So there is a real possibility that MULTIPLE quality coaches are interested in TN you know. We see talk of Mullen, Schiano, Kiffen, Petersen (God please please YES!!!) Brohm, Norvell, etc...

(Edit: I purposely left Gruden out. Just to be clear on that)

Once we put our battered Vol syndrome aside UT is an attractive job! Plain and simple. While the last two hires have been “meh” this institution has great appeal to the coaching community.

The sheer fact that a hire is supposedly imminent tells me Currie knows what he’s doing. No actual leaks from our AD. And Stricklin looks like a damn fool right now. We don’t. Be thankful. And be hopeful!

GO VOLS!!! BEAT CANDY!!!

This so deserved its own thread. Also, there are a lot of names in your post that are not quality by any stretch.

I don’t know why Stricklin would look like an idiot, he went for who he thought was the best candidate, I would expect an effort that was nothing less from Currie.

The name isn’t the point. All the negativity seems unwarranted to me anyway. There is absolutely zero information that Currie isn’t doing a good job. Our BVS just tells us.

And yeah based on the tripe going around sure I’ll make my own thread.

Stricklin swung hard, and that’s good.
But, now that they want Frost, having it plastered on the ESPN byline that they have scheduled an interview with Frost in case Kelly says No is a bad look.

The primary reason the Vol brand is considered down is the last two morons this program hired.

It's still a good job and there is rightfully plenty of interest. The problem is that most of the targets being mentioned have better fits elsewhere( Peterson Frost Mullen Kelley Gruden Patterson) or are flat out awful such as Schiano.

Have little to no confidence in Currie and the brass making the right hire this time around either. Feels more and more like another dud is going to be announced.

What do y'all think about Cutcliffe??
I'm not excited about this hire at all.

Watching Gators-Seminoles game. "Experts" talking about coaching vacancies, & one said IT should hire Dave Clawson OR David Cutcliffe. THAT should elicit a response.

I agree. It’s good to swing for the fences, but nobody likes to play second fiddle. If I remember correctly, a part of the reason we didn’t get Charlie Strong was he wasn’t higher on our pecking order. I’m not upset we didn’t get him in hindsight, but I remember thinking at the time that chasing the Gruden/Gundy pipe dreams hurt us with the actually viable options.

Agree on your first two points. Still think a tad of BVS coming in the last one. And I don’t know if it’s right or wrong! Which tells us the AD is keeping it close. And that encourages me.

Hell he might walk out a losing record MAC coach. Or he might walk out Chris Petersen! Or he might walk out Jon Gruden!! No... no he won’t nm.

But we don’t know and don’t see any actual negative information!

Assume the worst...hope for the best. That's my motto lol

I'd be OK with Campbell...Frost....Norvell...Mullen even unlike most but I am 100 percent against Schiano.

I don't dislike Clawson or Cutcliffe just don't think they move the needle enough here to be competitive for titles.

I think it's more likely that people are just throwing names against the wall and hoping something sticks.
