People jumping off theMullin train yet ?

Old enough to have watched UT run roughshod over Miami in New Orleans and spot quasi-fans like you who have lowered expectations for UT and think they are smart because the UT AD over the years has matched your lack of ambition while pretending others are stupid. Meanwhile, you vouch for every mediocre coach out there and excoriate Vol fans who realizes this is a top ten all-time program.

You can have your Mullen love story with his losing conference record and "impressive" almost wins.

So who's your candidate and how would you get him to Knoxville brainiac?

One player? It was the starting QB, the kid who was the heart and soul of the team. On top of that, MSU entered the game with Fitzgerald's top 2 targets unable to play, and now you have a true freshman having to enter the game. If you don't think that a true freshman QB with inexperienced WRs will impact a game then I don't know what to tell you.

I actually thought the freshman played a pretty good 2nd half, after a lot of first half mistakes, but there were just too many TOs to overcome that got them too far behind.

Exactly....I was impressed that MSU actually had a chance at the end. How many turnovers did they have? No one should judge anyone by that game ...

Gruden, Peterson or Patterson and you tell them they can run the program how they want while cashing their massive check.

They are already cashing checks....

And you think Currie an athletic director making his first hire with ZERO experience making the hire refusing to go with a search firm.....that he is going to do all this alone with no input but from himself...

Is going to give complete control to a coach?!?!?

What did you ask santa for?

If he's smart and the question posed to me is what I would do. If you are getting an elite coach, they will want to run it their own way.

Money doesn't solve all problems.... Patterson is successful where he is and is happy there.... The same may be true about Peterson .... and Gruden is trolling like a mofo.... So now that your fantasy choices are likely gone.... what's your next tier of candidates?

Gruden is more real than you know. Patterson wanted to come here previously and anyone can be wooed. Peterson is the longest shot, but worth trying.

Maybe..... but if these turn you down... which isn't that far fetched ... who are some more realistic candidates?

Hey I agree what a top coach would want. There is no way it's happening.

So many factors go into why power 5 coaches won't leave to go anywhere much less Tennessee.

Plus look at the coaches that are being thrown around by Tennessee media.....

Mullen, Schiano, Norvell, Frost

I'll be shocked if it's not one of these 4

By more realistic candidates, do you mean the ones you've been conditioned to believe are appropriate for UT by those who spray BS like "UT is the 6th or 7th best job in the SEC"?

Mullen is a third to fourth tier candidate. I'd take Taggart, Frost or Fuente over him.

Now now… let’s all just calm down… we’ll all have plenty of time to discuss Dan while he preps his team for another bowl, checks his bank account, and considers head coaching opportunities! Kind of makes the nega-Vols seem…

His job is to hire the best coach he can for the Tennessee. I admire Currie for having the balls to do it himself. He knows what the university needs more than a paid consultant.

You're not even anywhere close. Patterson just signed an extension and Gruden's not coming to coach College. You blast other people, but you're the one being delusional.

What have any of those coaches done over Mullen? For that fact, what makes you think any of them would leave for UT? I cannot believe the delusional attitude some people take. Just write him a check, oh they be happy to take this job, been turned down by the top tier coaches. By the time they hired one of these other guys, like frost, who's getting beat right now as we speak you'll be begging for Dan Mullen.

Pattersen signed an extension in August that has a 1.5 million buyout.
He’s the guy

If that was butch, ole miss would've won by +30. Mullen dud a fantastic job last night. Star qb goes down in first qtr. 3 offensive fumbles and the true freshman qb had 2 of them. 3 dropped interceptions. That team could've quit but they rallied and fought hard until the end.

Like I stated to the reply just above yours he's won two national championships with talent at Florida. he's taking a Mississippi State team, that I have never seen be relevant or really win my whole entire life. The last time anyone won at Mississippi State like he did was Jackie.

To compare his record at Mississippi State, a team severely lacking and the facilities like at UT, to Butch Jones is ridiculous. He took a walk-on freshman, who hasn't taken many snaps, and almost took them to Victory against their most hated rival. His ability to adjust his game plan to fit the players is exactly what we need and defines a good coach.

And then people scream Scott Frost, Matt Campbell, who hadn't done a damn thing? Ridiculous, absolutely ridiculous.

Saying he won two national championships with Florida is laughable. He wasn't that HEAD COACH! Urban won't 2 NC's

Dooley was on sabans staff, are you going to give him this kind of credit for bamas success?

Miss state isn't the top of the SEC, but it's better than Vandy and Kentucky and on par with ole Miss an Missouri. I was more impressed with Franklin and pinkel than Mullen.

Mullen is a fine coach, but he isn't great. There is nothing you can point to that shows him being great. He had Dak like butch had Dobbs. Outside of those years, what has he done?

Last point, if he took the job at Florida, would you really be very concerned? I wouldn't. I would much rather they hire him vs Kelly, frost, Campbell, etc...
