Hubbs has been involved in cover-ups before, specifically when a recruit and their family requested that news of their commitment be withheld until they were ready to announce. Brent has even admitted to knowing for awhile, having the story written for some time, and keeping it quiet out of respect for their wishes.

The only difference is that Hubbs would just say he "likes where they are" with recruit X, whereas he seems to be avoiding Gruden talk altogether. I think that is because he knows that fans tend to take his optimism as confirmation.

They were facts. The reason posters are ripping the piece is because they don't WANT it to be true. They WANT the blame to be on the departing coaches. They WANT one of the most talented players on the team to remain on the team. Issue goes deeper than JJ helping UT win football games. The young man has things that need to be addressed in his life for his futures sake.

I've been on the Petersen possibility for weeks, but the latest rumors don't convince me. I truly think it will be a big hire. Either:
Gruden, Petersen or Jimbo (no certain order).
The University is working on a $300M stadium improvement. They need a big name to get the money rolling in. Don't think any other name is going to cause the excitement needed for that kind of money. TIFWIW

Hubbs is hearing two different things from two different sets of people. He's not sure what to believe. He's decided to not believe what some are telling him in regards to Gruden being a done deal. He's doubting whether his choice is right, evidenced by him running to the airport. I think down deep he knows it could be Gruden but he doesn't want to get burnt.

A Peterson hire would be a homerun. Immediately put us back into the top of college football. Gruden might, probably get us there, but Peterson is a sure thing. I'll believe only when it's not Bobo they trot out next week.

Issues go deeper than JJ. I'm not going to argue. I know more to the story than a lot and Jimmy doesn't know ****. It's like asking a girl why her BF dumped her for her bestfriend before prom.

Haha. There were a couple in the FF after DD got ousted defending him to the death. Everyone assumed they were Barbara Dooley protecting "precious."

That money is going to come in even if they hire the WR coach from Soddy Daisy High School.

Fair enough. I'll be happy to eat my big helping of crow if Gruden is our next HC. We all agree that we need a homerun hire-- we just differ on who that might be.
