J Jennings Dismissed from UT

I didnt defend his post, i specifically said i dont know where he got the gang banger stuff from.

Ok, Maybe I misunderstood the part of this post where you accused him of dealing drugs, which was in response to my comment to the post about gang banging. You specifically say he didn't bring up race.

I didnt see where he brought up race? However, JJ did deal drugs correct? He was recently caught.

Dont know anything about gang banging, not sure where he got that.

You are right, he didn't. Maybe he didn't even know that it could be construed as racist.

Yep, good conversation this morning fellas. Gotta hit the road for a few miles before i eat way too much. Full marathon coming up in February.

Happy Thanksgiving to all. Please no profanity laced rants with racial slurs at your family gathers tonight, not even up north :)

Not sure how that makes it okay?

Never said it was. What I was trying to say is that when white women use bad language, they aren't accused of being drug dealing gang bangers.

If you can't see the inherent racism in that leap, I can't say anything to make you understand.

Have a happy Thanksgiving.

This did not work last time. Not going to work this time. Once a player has crossed the line - time to let go.

This sends a clear message that this type of activity will not be tolerated in the AD. Maybe if this stance had been taken in the past - Tennessee would not be 4-7 right now.

Society likes the illusion of an investigation.

Upon further revue the play stands or it's overturned.

Swift justice went away when too many criminals were getting off.

If it weren't for second guessing we would hardly guess at all.

The video was bad, but I d t think I would dismiss the third best player on the team behind Trey Smith and John Kelly

Why are you comparing hks actions to that of the average white kid? What does race have to do with this situation?

White kids get caught smoking weed too. Does that make them probable drug dealers? JJ has a filthy mouth, but that doesn’t show any indication that if it weren’t for football, he’d be a dopedealer or a gangbanger. It’s a generalization based on racial stereotypes.

It’s like suggesting that a cocky white kid would be a date rapist if he got kicked off the team. It’s an unfair stereotype. JJ needs to mature, no doubt, but to suggest that without football he’d be a drug dealer or gang banging is your common black stereotype that comes with more than subtle racial animosity.

He never got caught dealing as far as I know. But buying drugs is the 2nd haft of a drug deal.

Unless the drugs he got were a gift. That would make him a drug gifter.

Assumptions were made.

I'm sorry, still trying to understand this.

If I am accused of having a car, but later said to not have a car, then I must have bought the car, and since buying is part of a deal, then I am a car dealer?

I'm I getting this right?

Someone who understands what I said. Thanks.

Yeah, white kids that get caught smoking dope were at one point half of a drug deal.

If you get caught with a car, you were at one point involved in a car deal.

Like I said, I've been in business meetings with white women that used fouler language than Jennings did. Only difference was accent.

Nobody accused them of dealing drugs or gang banging.
Two points:

1) You are dealing with a rough group of white women.

2) White women aren't normally seen gang banging very often..

He has a constitutional right to do what he did. Meaning he can't go to jail for what he did....Tennessee has the right to respond the way they did.....aaaaannnnndddd, they did......end of story......

Will he be reinstated at some point? Once another coach is hired and the proper procedures take place for him to be reinstated? I would say that it is likely doubtful. But it's a possibility.

I can only imagine the amount of frustration that he in the rest of the team has endured through the Butch Jones era. But, the main concern for me....... Is what will he do or say if and when he doesn't agree with the next coaching staff? That's the type of thing that the UT Administration will take into account.

It was a very bad move and look on his part. Got to find a way to always take the high road. Be the most mature in the situation. That's extremely hard for 21 year olds to do. Believe me I was once 21.

Not in my book. Sounds like you would be the customer to me.

He claimed he was just being silly about the dealer part in a later post. I figured it was a law enforcement tactic to get drug customers to give up their dealer in hopes of scoring a major drug/money bust.

I thought dealer came from card games. All other dealers have want they deal as part of their title. They aren't called Card Dealers at a casino, just dealer or The Dealer.

Football players that expect and end up in the NFL realize that football is a job and they become an employee.

Attending college and being successful is NOT a right, it is earned through hard work and dedication. Universities have codes of ethics all students must abide by or guess what - they are kicked out. That could mean losing scholarship money that is important to them.

How a student handles college is typically a good indication of whether they can be successful in professional type jobs. I'm assuming that JJ does not plan to work at the local Walmart or McDonalds and is attending college to become a professional in something. As such, hopefully he realizes that this is not acceptable behavior that will help him advance in whatever career he hopes to have.
He also has a piss poor attitude when it comes to authority, and like it or not, the coaching staff and athletic director are authority. People in business generally like to hire workers that are team players and have respect for their superiors. They aren't too high on loose cannons with little self control.

I hope he makes it in football because I'm not sure who would hire him with that attitude. Maybe Popeye's Chicken to work back in the kitchen.
