so we have a HC thats been on the job for a week and will be gone in 3 days kick our best player off the team cause he told the truth about the staff. Shouldnt have said the words he said but C'mon man

But don't bash the Hokester. He's going to whip up some awesome potion so that we finally get an SEC win.

OP normally I'm buying everything you're selling. One problem, these are young men who have had toxic leadership at UT. They are a biproduct to a certain degree of said leadership.

There are other ways to handle this. Public apology, private meetings, mandatory counselings, etc.

In the end we want what's best for the players, regardless if they're WR1 or PK3. This feels like a knee jerk reaction.

Fair! I'm sure we'll know a lot more about the situation in the next couple of days. Hopefully this ends up being the right decision, and if not I hope he'll be offered a chance to come back by the next staff. I'd say for now we should all try to not overreact and wait for more info.

Soon.

Everyone’s assuming JJ was dismissed because of the video. Be patient - more will come out. Everyone needs to at least consider that the video could have been the effect of a decision rather than the cause for one. At least until more is known.

exactly...what prompted the video in the first place?

He screwed up

Ok, so I don't claim to know **** and haven't said anything of substance yet but here's what I have. I have a friend who's father is deep inside the AD and has been for decades. The friend says that dad says there will be a presser Monday or Tuesday to announce the new HC. The friend says get ready to be completely underwhelmed by (at best Mullen) and at worst some mid-major also ran. The friend's dad said that UT is more likely to name him HC before Gruden. He swears that although UT would love to have Gruden and Cindy really wants to be back in Knoxville, the Grude would have be out of his mind to leave his cush job now for the grind of SEC coaching for ballpark same money. I'm Gruden all the way but I can see this playing out exactly like 2012. Not trying to be a wet blanket but we may need to align our expectations with reality if we don't want to be cliff jump ready next week.

The whole Jennings situation is an indictment of the way the culture has been for the last 2 years. He hasn’t been a part of anything football-related since his injury. Nothing. And then he expected to play this weekend vs Vandy. Coaches said no and it all blew up from there.

It’s on the coaches to make sure he’s there throughout the season, and communicate effectively that if he’s not there, he’ll have no place on the team going forward. That never came from Butch. Didn’t have the stones to have that conversation.

But ultimately it’s on Jauan, and I don’t think any of us are shocked at this. He’s a man and, even though he’s suffered from a lack of leadership, he will suffer the consequences and it’s a shame all around.

In with the new coaches and in with some actual leaders of men.

Say what you want about Hoke but if any of us were in his shoes we’d make the same decision. You can’t have team players no matter the situation acting like that publically. Shows his immaturity level and the next coach (Gruden or whoever) doesn’t want or need someone like that on the team who goes ape &@$- if they don’t get their way. With the state the program is in we don’t need a cancer from within that could spread we need to clean this mess up and start winning some ballgames

pfft...until the facts come I'll stay off my high horse

So then your saying it is ok for Butch to cuss at all the fans in Neyland and kee his job? That was much more public than Jennings instagram. MILLIONS OF PEOPLE saw that.

lol trust me I’m anti-butch and nowhere did I say anything Butch did was ok.

It makes no difference tho anyone that acts like that goes that far and takes it publically is gone.

I whole heartedly agree. There could also be more to this than a video.

Hopefully this happens. We clearly need it
