Writer is an a$$ hat

"I once went to a wedding at which a fight broke out during the reception between the groom and his best man because one went to Bama and the other went to Tennessee. I used to think that was the most stereotypical SEC thing I would see in my lifetime. Then, on Saturday, the most popular riverside rib joint in Knoxville had to issue a public apology for tweeting a photo it had originally claimed was proof that Peyton Manning and Jon Gruden were eating lunch at their place prior to the LSU-Tennessee game. Surprise! They were wrong. The SEC. It just means more ... insanity."

Gruden is not taking an NFL job. As a MNF analyst, he spent years gaining the trust of NFL players and coaches to gain exclusive access on how they approach the game. He knows which guards Michael Bennett prefers attacking. He knows which throws Mariota likes most. He knows how John Elway approaches the draft and how Pete Carroll motivates his players. Gruden probably has the skinny on everyone in the NFL not named Belichick. To immediately coach an NFL team after years with that access, seems a bit unfair, right? It would likely discourage players and coaches from being as candid with future coach-analysts. And it could reflect poorly on Gruden himself. Sure, he might return to the NFL one day, but his best move presently is to win a few national titles for his in-laws.

Beaver, I've been trying my best to figure out what motivates you in all of this. I'm only going to look at your motives and not your identity.

From my perspective it seems as if getting Gruden is only a means to an end for you, not the end itself. You, and whoever you represent whether an organization or a group of people, clearly have an agenda you are trying to promote. Getting Gruden only seems to be a step in that process.

A common theme appears to be taking back control of the Athletic Department from certain forces. I'm assuming this to be influencers who (in your opinion) do not have UT's best interests in mind. People such as Sexton or certain boosters who your organization or the group you represent perceive as having too much control. Perhaps you even want that control yourself.

Is this accurate or am I over analyzing this?

It was mentioned, in an earlier post today, that something might be happening in the next 24 hours. I hope the hire is announced tomorrow but Currie left with basketball team today and he will not be back until Thursday. I read that on the basketball site.

If anything is announced, it seems like Friday could be the earliest date. Either way, I believe we're getting closer to our "big fish".
