Question: what if Hyams is right that we're not going to hire a coach until after championship week because the hire is going to be Scott Frost?

Same here. I’ve got no problem with a coach connecting with a kid over shared faith and using that connection in recruiting.

But faking it as a recruiting prop is as scummy as it gets. Big reason I never like Freeze. You could just sense it from him. It never came off as genuine as it does for a guy like Dabo Sweeney (as much as I dislike his success at Clemson and the effect it has had on our recruiting).

Kirby tried this with JaCoby Stevens. Worked for awhile but he caught on

This is all good news. Names pop up and then go away. Just continuing to buy time to get us to Sunday or Monday, when our big, expensive, and explosive hire is announced.

It has to be right? Mullen was the hot name now we're being told he's likely just getting a raise and happy at state but will listen. Then it was Norvell as the hot name, now after a closer look he's not the guy we need.

We've been told Patterson's not interested, Petersen likely goes to A&M if he leaves. Kelly to UCLA or UF. Frost to UF or Nebraska.

Now the hot name is Campbell. $1 says we're told he's no longer in consideration in a couple days. Wonder who the next hot name will be? Won't matter that guy will also fall off the board a couple days later.

And then Currie will introduce his guy sometime next week. Until then, I guess we'll keep digging!

Listening to Ainge this morning. He made it clear he has no concrete evidence with his next statement, he made it clear it was just a feeling he had.

“ I think Currie really, really wants Scott Frost, I know most say Nebraska but I don’t count Currie out on this, again this is just a hunch I have and please don't go out and say Ainge said we are getting Frost.”

Great news! Ainge said Frost was a lock.

His problem was his W/L record if that was different we wouldn't be talking about any of this and players leave every program regardless if the coach is a d!ck.

The rate of attrition (especially among young players) under Jones was abnormal though. And you had guys like Marcus Jackson and JJ who chose to step away from the team after injuries to get away from Butch.

You can say his problem was all wins and losses and had nothing to do with how he mismanaged the locker room if you want, but at the same time don’t act like the overly high rate of attrition didn’t help make this type of season possible.

This is a blessed day. The N word is no longer being discussed and has been replaced with optimism around Petersen and Frost! Plus it is Ron's birthday. So happy birthday Ron.

The thing about Butch and Helm is not that he called a player soft or that he said mean things to try to motivate his players. I think Butch was(is) abusive and vindictive. You wield power in his position; you limit playing time for no obvious reason (Byrd?), and can damage or scuttle a player's future in the NFL. And I think Butch did some of that kind of stuff. Helm is just a minor example; a scratch on the wall that shows there is a very different and ugly color under the fresh coat of paint.

Was at the game tonight. Ryan Jo is Incredible

Fiala had a couple of sick moves too, including the goal. I'm excited to watch him continue to develop. It's good to see him and Johansen starting to score. Turris seems seems to have really elevated that second line as well. That trade is looking pretty good right now.

Petersen is the best coach that anyone on here has brought up, if we offer anyone $10mil a year it should be him.

I am trying to find out about this plane the University is rumored to be looking into getting. As we noted yesterday, the University's current plane is in the shop (it is old).

-Hubbs

Hubbanese for UT is in fact buying a new plane. Hutch was right again.

Patterson, Petersen and Frost have probably been our top 3 candidates all along, with Mullen as #4. IDK if any of them will interview with Currie, but IDT he has given up.

Some players do respond well to that kind of coaching though.

But a coach has to understand who that can work with and who it won’t work with. The sheltered homeschool Christian kid most likely ain’t the one you wanna try that tactic with.

Turris had me fired up last night. Pretty funny the crowd was chanting

VQ, 247, Hyams, etc just need to come out and say we have no ****ing clue, these are some names that sort of make sense but we have no legitimate info.

Hyams would beg to differ since he’s been reporting in absolutes about this coaching search for weeks now

Agreed. And you can abuse those kinds of tactics in lots of ways.

Agreed. I don’t think it should be a coaches go to move regardless. Only way you’re getting away with that is if you’re Saban level good and the kid knows you’ll get him to the NFL with a few rings on his finger if he can endure you for 3-5 years.
