At this point give the keys to Tee Matin or Jim bob cooter with a Tennessee staff. That is only thing I could be excited about if no Gruden. No Mullen, Norvell, Durkin, Brohm. Bring Tennessee blood back in

I nearly wretch everytime I hear any of those four names mentioned in reference to this job.

Holy wall of text, Batman! The return button is your friend.

Added some white space, hope you don't mind too much :hi::

The truly great coaches want the challenge, this is the ultimate challenge. He has the resources, he knows the area, recruiting are you kiddin me. He will surround himself with any and all help he needs. No coach that I can remember has won a super bowl and a NC. Nothing is a guarantee for any coach, that includes Saban. He struggled at times at Mich St and every coach loses games. But Gruden to Knoxville would no doubt in my mind be a HOME RUN. Gruden is capable of putting UT back to the top. He has the ability for the highest upside, we can't afford to settle. He needs to accept the challenge, he can do it! No regrets! He just needs to do this, life is short at least try that's all any of us can do. If he doesn't he would probably look back and regret it, the time is right this time. In the words of Apollo Creed, there in NO TOMORROW! SOON!!!! COME HOME JON!!!! We are with you in this! SOON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A couple of things.

First - Recruits.
No way do we let recruits like Cade Mays on campus for his one and only official visit this weekend if we do not have a coach. Either the visits get rescheduled or a coach is announced. That is absolute recruiting malpractice if we allow that to happen.

Second - Bahamas.
No way does Currie go to the Bahamas if he doesn't have his guy. He said on Kick off show with Kesling that his family was going and he would try to get down there for a day or two. Then Hyams this morning on the radio said that Currie WAS going to the Bahamas. Then he had to be a douche bag and snidely say "maybe people should go down there and stake out the airport for planes."

This week should be interesting. Ideally we get an announcement tonight (Beaver said ESPN would get the right to break the story), but I'm not holding my breath.

Thank you for the rational thinking!
The AD doesn’t go on a quick vacation in the middle of a heated coaching search. That sounds a bit celebratory to me!
We have our man.

Didn't he kill the rumors on Mike and Mike last time? I agree he wouldn't formally turn us down on MNF, but he might directly address the rumors. If he doesn't I'd say we have a very very good chance of landing him and the announcement would come after Vandy.

For me, what he says or doesn't say on Mike and Mike, MNF, or any other media doesn't solidify anything at all for me. JMO

Yesterday on Sports Source Jimmy said he's tired of "dealing with all this bull" regarding Gruden. He was fired up and I thought he wasn't gonna just say Bull lol.

That's just frayed nerves talking. Reporters have them too, nerves. They too fit into one of those charts about handling stress over time. Sounds like Jimmy is in the "fade out" group.

I would not at ALL be surprised to hear something in the next 48 hours putting the Gruden talk to rest and tempering the expectations of the fan base that are convinced he is coming and setting the stage for the actual hire. Some will love it, some will hate it but that is true with any hire. I know of at least one recruits dad who has been told, directly from "Dr. Currie" as he said, a hire will be announced on or before December 10th (probably before) and to not listen to the Gruden talk in the media and that we will be getting a top notch coach that knows how to win in the SEC. (Didn't say the name but sounds a LOT like Dan Mullen)

The AD knows what is going on and hears all the call ins and the fact you cannot hear the word Tennessee mentioned in a broadcast without the mention of Gruden. It has reached a level of belief that has taken on a life of its own. The LAST thing they want is for recruits to be expecting a hire that looks like it is not going to come to fruition.

At this point they know they have to address it as an official hire draws near imo. They cannot announce Mullen (Most likely imo), Patterson (possible but not super likely) or Norvell (vomit, not likely I HOPE) without first tempering fan expectations.

I think the fever pitch of the fan base has been to loud and it has been allowed to go on to long to temper any excitement.... The recruits have already heard ... you can't put the toothpaste back into the tube...

I believe we ARE at Gruden or Bust already!... I see no other alternative for Currie at this point

Praying MSU gives him everything he desires plus 10%.

He'll be an unmitigated disappointment here within 2 years.

I know he coaches in a tough place, but where does our team play. His record doesn't even begin to raise my brow. Some say he can develop a QB...who? Tebow, Prescott, Fitgerald? Thanks but no thanks! I want a QB that can pass the football.

I'm sorry but if we hire Mullen, I'm out. I supported Dooley and Butch but I refuse to watch another train wreck. You can call me a **** fan all you want but I've watched Tennessee football all my life and I just can't and won't support another crap hire. Nothing against Mullen but we deserve more here at Tennessee.

The people saying "But it's at Miss. St." will be saying "We're just Tennessee" in a few years.

That's the trajectory.

I do not think Mullen leaves Starkville. He makes bank and has relatively low expectations there. he's their rockstar. He has no reason to leave and start over. Money can motivate people to make drastic changes, but I think he really is happy where he is.

We will know before thanksgiving...
