Don’t mean to prop up what has been called a fake, but it really may not be fake. There are some claiming to have authentically received the email and they are not trolls. Here’s the email again. I’ll leave it alone from here, and if true, this stuff is fascinating.

AV give away tickets and said he hadnt been in the sky box in a while which leads me to believe this is legit.

Apparently gruden was at Calhoun's? This is beginning to sound like some area 51 bs. Lord have mercy....

I think this was from rivals?

There were pictures of him in Seattle posted by various people yesterday though...

Whose to say? There isn't credible proof to discredit or credit what this person is saying?

People are Saying he was in wash. State. People saying he was in Knox.. who the heck knows. One thing is for sure. The UTAD is really tight lipped about this hire.

That tells me one thing... It's a high profile hire and they do not want to jack it up.

For clarity, what do you think it means?

I think it's on announcement time. I'm beginning to lean towards Grude doesn't want to cause an uproar for asst coaches who are sure to be linked with this job. I would like to have it happen before Vandy but don't think that is going g to happen.. JMO

What are they saying about the email on TOS? Jon Reed thought it could be legit and I’d been trying to find it ever since, so thanks for posting! :salute:

"...on behalf of JC..."? Really? Who in their right mind would send an invitation to high level boosters and refer to Currie as "JC". That's absurd.

I think it will be Wednesday. Currie not wanting recruits making decisions over thanksgiving family time.

Though many are discouraged, I found Friday’s “reservations” article and today’s “procedural motion” article to be the most reassuring nuggets thus far. Please allow this VN newcomer to explain why.

Regarding the present state of the search, there are only four possibilities:

1. Currie and Gruden are interested.
2. Currie is, but Gruden is NOT interested.
3. Currie is NOT interested, but Gruden is.
4. Currie and Gruden are NOT interested.

Now, assuming the two articles were in fact sourced by Currie, which option above seems most reasonable?

My answer is #1.

I strongly believe Currie and Gruden remain interested and simply need to delay the decision/announcement. The hang up may be money...or personnel ...or both. Regardless, Currie needed to buy time last Friday. And he needed to do so while leaving both parties an out in case talks break down. He couldn’t, obviously, say, “We’re considering Gruden’s request for more money.” He couldn’t say, “We’re pursuing LSU’s general manager to help Gruden feel comfortable.” With Gruden fever rising so rapidly, he definitely couldn’t fall back on, “I’m exploring all viable candidates.”

His best play, then, was to feign concern over Gruden’s transition to college. And it was a brilliant move. Citing the all-too-obvious “reservations” in the CBS report bought Currie time to “re-evaluate” Gruden, sent a veiled message to potential personnel that John F’n Gruden could use their services, and bought both parties an out. If talks break down now, Gruden can more convincingly say, “I love UT, man, but I’d have you in trouble quickly.” And Currie can say, “I wanted him too, but I now realize that he’s right.”

Today’s “procedural motion” report was likewise an effort to buy time, but it also addressed the heated debate over last week’s reported meeting. By framing said meeting as a mere procedural motion, Currie ended the debate, put out the fires amongst reporters, and softened fan expectations, all while buying himself time to evaluate more “plausible” candidates. The article’s true brilliance, however, is in its tone. It accomplished all the above while showing respect for Gruden as an overly qualified candidate, which countered the hit-piece tone of Friday’s article to the approval of Bob Lamonte. Finally, today’s article set the stage for even more excitement when we finally land our white whale!

If you think one of the other options better explains the two articles, I’d love to hear it.

Thanks for reading.

And...soon.

Also: I believe AV mentioned earlier today that he didn't get that email.

Is there anyway to say 100% that AV is legit? No but we are all trusting that he is based on past interactions or “proof” but I can’t say that I know his information is any more valid or concrete than anyone else tbh

What about potential assistants who coach for teams that are bowl eligible...especially if those teams make the playoffs? Would Gruden not care about that?

I think it would more important for Gruden to be announced as it relates to recruiting...whether he can name all of his assistants on day 1 or not.

I’m still not convinced Gruden wasn’t at Calhoun’s. The physical attributes match. Would be a huge coincidence. Also, why were there multiple people saying it was him? People who are professionals. The only person saying it perhaps wasn’t is the COO, who tweeted out the apology later. The apology stated there was uncertainty. Not that he wasn’t there.
