I’ll be the first to say that I would love to have Chucky on the sidelines. But do you not feel that if Gruden is not a legitimate candidate for the job, that Currie needs to put this to bed?

Yes IMO if you know it’s not happening it only hurts at this point. A few days may have helped keep the attention elsewhere but now it would be time to end it.

Can you guys explain to me why it’s soooo important to keep everything such a secret??

I doubt Currie would agree with AP. News is going to slow to a crawl from Wednesday to Saturday. All Currie has to do is make it thru Tuesday. Then the real search clock starts Sunday morning.

Because Brice has had a ton of misses lately and he has no skin in the game.

247 is much more click conscious than VQ. If they think it will get hits they will run it.

Plus Hubbs still hasn’t confirmed it happened has he?

I think SB Nation seconded it today in their report.

They're hoping to push recruiting visits to the first week in December, so they want to have a new coach on board by then. That's still possible.

If it's Gruden, I'll go with November 28th. Day after MNF game, and if it's Gruden then it's safe to say that ESPN made it a condition of his "release" that they get to break the news. They need every click they can get.

If not Gruden, then NLT December 1st. SECCG is the 2nd, and they absolutely have to give the new coach two solid weeks to reach out to current and new recruits.

I'm still of the opinion that there is just way too much smoke around Gruden, and if (a) he were not the #1 guy, or (b) he wasn't seriously interested in the job, that one side or the other would have quashed the rumors by now. If anything, it seems that Gruden himself is being very coy about the whole thing...and there's no way he doesn't know what's happening on campus, and on VN.

So...Gruden on November 28th for $1000, Alex.

Go Vols.
