Forget Harbaugh to Tennessee, that's silly.

But this does raise a very interesting sea change in NCAA football:

The early reporting period being AHEAD OF the end of each NFL regular season is going to make NFL-to-NCAA coaching moves much less easy. Therefore, less likely.

And I'm not talking about NFL head coaches to become NCAA head coaches, we all know that's already very uncommon. Talking more about NFL coordinators taking NCAA head coaching gigs and the like.

If you need that new coach by the first part of December, but you can't get him until the end of December ... well, it's just a big sabot in the gearing.

That lightbulb didn't come on over my head until I read this tweet you linked.

One thing is for sure, one side will be eating a lot of crow in the next couple weeks, so people should think twice before acting as if they know 100% one way or the other.

I'm seated on the "hope" train, not the "know" train. I hope it is Gruden. UT must hire a winner and return some excitement to this program.

UF can and will do better than Kiffin.

They’re not that stupid and they actually care about winning.

What has Kiffin accomplished as a HC at big time schools?

I think he has grown up a lot on the field...obvs not off the field...but I believe he possesses the skills to be an elite coach. JMO

I'm convinced now that nothing is going to be announced until after the Vandy game. It sucks and I want to know who the new coach is going to be just as much as everyone else, but I also want Currie and everyone else involved in the search to make the best possible decision for Tennessee football and if that means waiting another week then so be it. Just as long as we get a coach who can get us back to where we need to be then this whole wait will be worth it.

I've just caught up after church, and I'm actually really excited about what AV said. Many are interpreting it as Plan A and Plan B. I don't.

In business and in life, I tend to set 30 day, 60 day, 90 day, 1 year, 5 year, and sometimes 10 year goals and plans. My best guess is that these extremely successful business people do as well. I read it as "we have a clear path for the next 5 (or 7 or 10) years, and a clear path after that (coach in waiting or the like).

To me, "plan" means something I intend to do. "Path" means something I am doing.

Obviously, I am simply interpreting like everyone else, but I think he would have said "plan A" and "plan B" if that is what he meant.

I like the way you think SFD.... We see things very similar

Kiffin's greatest obstacle is Kiffin.
Quick Kiffen story: a friend of mine was at a guy's "get acquainted with Lane" party right after Kiffen was hired. They were passing around a jar of moonshine and everyone was taking pulls from the jar. Kiffen refused to drink from the jar-wanted it poured in a separate glass.

I also was not stating that AV was bringing bad news. I think his posts were positive...just not “done” as others have stated.

I think you read AVs posts the way you want and/or need to.

I agree. I will say that all of this is not just us UT fans/Grudenites being crazy though. I work with 3 Bama fans, a Georgia fan, and a Texas Tech fan and every single one of them have said that they think we're getting Gruden and there's just too much smoke out there. Makes me feel better knowing I'm not just a delusional fan. lol

What a girl.

I think his football IQ and his offensive mind are extraordinary, but his management skills and maturity are lacking and you have to have those to be a successful head coach!

SFD after reading AVs post I think you are correct in thinking plan a may be done and still working on plane b. Just the the way I read it there is a clear plan a, Gruden.

Yeah me too! I guess what I should have said is "his post defiantly changed the mood in here" ... I'm just hoping like the rest of us
