Official Gruden Thread 38

That was on Pennington this morning, He said a booster told him that a sitting SEC coach, not named Mullen, is on the list. He also said that at least two coaches that could be on the list have said they want no part of it because of the frenzy over Gruden (didn't say they were offered just said don't call me).
wonder if those 2 unnamed sanctimonious coaches would change their tunes if the right offer was made?

Everyone will know when we have a new hire...

1. Gruden was not at Calhouns yesterday.
2. Currie primarily flies commercial on UT business..guy is a hustler and should be respected for that.
3. No need to ever track wheels up planes those are not being used for UT business
4. The vast majority of meetings are NOT happening in any location that would “make sense” (Ie, Knoxville etc)
5. Great lengths have been gone into keeping the tail numbers etc that are being used different from ones that have really ever been posted in here before. Take into account my company alone has 5 planes now that may or may not be used all of which none of those tails are known...so imagine how many others are out there. Additionally usually the registration of said planes are done with essentially phony LLC’s in states other than where the planes are used or kept that have no connection to anything that could ever get traced back to an individual.
6. There is a sense of urgency to get this done as quickly as possible but you can’t force someone’s hand purely with $$$. If it were that easy we would have someone already.

I hope everyone who was able to go to game yesterday enjoyed the experience as much as possible. I was bummed that the weather sucked....first time in box for entire game for me in a long time.

I am around a bit today relaxing preparing to turn and burn for the holiday week...I wish each and everyone of you and your families a wonderful thanksgiving holiday. Take time to hug your wife, kids, and parents if they are still around. That’s what its all about.

That is EXACTLY why this needs to be put to bed if it's not going to happen. If I was a HC I would be thinking exactly the same way. You would start off right out of the gate being a disappointment to the fans.

What did Knuck do? I went to game y-day, so I wasn't on any.

Well, fellow Vol fans, I've got a lot to do today, but I'll lurk when I can. With that said, I'll try to find out if there is any truth to the rumor that Brent is supposed to break the story. I should see him tomorrow evening.

On knuck's behalf I would like to say that if the Gruden deal falls through and "insiders" are exposed as trolls, there will be a lot of hotel rooms with lots of bodies:)

I respect your opinion and hope you are correct!

In addition to the part you quoted, AV also went on to talk about plan A and plan B. Putting the two together, I think most people would think he was referring to the deal still being in its normal progression as opposed to being “done.”

I agree. AV is not Beaver. He's not speaking in code. It was pretty cut and dry to me.

This is what it sounds like to me: AV is possibly the most trusted (and liked) insider who posts here. Some time ago he said that, as far as he was concerned, the deal was done and that we wouldn't hear from him again unless it was bad news. He did show up again before the LSU game to give away several tickets to the game, so not necessarily a bad sign. His most recent post, however, seems to signify, however, the bad news since, in it, he suggests that the deal is not done adding that the AD can't force Gruden's hand.

It would make sense. Handwriting is on the wall. When a certain element at Auburn wants you gone, there is little you can do to convince them otherwise. First bad year you have and you are toast.

Auburn has been strong this season. Malzahn put on a master's level class in misdirection football against Georgia and had Smart and his senior defense looking like true freshmen.

But the minute after completion of a rebuild year, they'll be running him out of town.

Malzahn may be wanting to get out before the mob gets to him.

He may well be thinking that if Tennessee would be willing to give an absolute dullard like Butch Jones five years, then he could do enough in Knoxville to make this his last job before retirement.

Well, Exile, on the "deal versus announcement" scrutiny, I really don't have an opinion. I simply don't know which Atlanta Vol meant. Occam's razor says he was talking about a deal...but Occam's razor can be wrong, too.

So now we have a cat inside a box that might be alive or might be dead, and we're not (yet) allowed to peek inside the box. So it exists in both quantum states simultaneously, for me. Which is why I'm less sure than I was before AV posted.

But far from convinced either way. If that makes any sense, heh. :good!:

I really don't see Occam's razor helping here. If his statement were contract language, the judge would find it ambiguous on its face. :)

You don't know that anymore than I do. And acting like you do also makes you a troll. Take the negativity to a different thread.

I didn’t listen to his show but someone told me he said we are looking at an SEC coach not named Mullen. I’m not sure if this person heard that on his show or if he was being interviewed on a different show.
I only heard about 20 min of it . He did say 12/10 was the date recruits have been told. HIS idea on a coach was a) SEC coach of a coach with SEC experience b) A power 5 coach c) An assistant coach with SEC ties. He also said that the people that have nmade the calls for the coaches over the last 15 years will probably be making some of the calls this time and he did menton the Haslams by name.

He also talked about who HE thought should be in on the search and that included Fulmer, Peyton and Charles Davis. He said Fulmer works for the UT Pres. and hasn't had that much input as far as he knows.

That is just about all I got from the time I listened.

I am still having trouble figuring out how anyone knows anything if the AD isn’t leaking anything?! Every reporter makes the same statement about no leaks yet follows it up with a supposed leaked list. Am I the only one who finds that ironic? Quite frankly it seems everyone is guessing so we might as well. I don’t believe for one second a coach would admit they don’t want the job due to internet rumors. Now that may be true but not something you would say to a reporter because it makes you look very insecure
