SBNation has an article out on coaching vacancies. It says Taggart was offered the job by Ole Miss and turned it down. It also said Currie had met face-to-face with Gruden in a procedural move to satisfy boosters and fans. It said Mullen and Schiano are candidates. Im sure its not all accurate so TIFWIW.
Dont forget Hubbs threw out Schianos name right after the UGA loss.
Look for his name to pick up steam as we move along.
Fine with me. He's proven a lot more than Brohm and Norvell.
The more I dissect Brohm, I think that's a colossal mistake. The guy guy beat Missouri this year, and his name exploded. Granted, that would be progress, but I'm not seeing anything that would give me optimism if he is the hire.
I think one of the causes of contention between the Mehlens and the Mullenites is the points of comparison aren't the same. The Mehlens are weighing Mullen against Gruden, Patterson, Petersen, and the like. The Mullenites are weighing him against Brohm, Norvell, and Bobo.
Of course I'd love Gruden, Patterson, or Petersen over Mullen, but I don't think that's going to happen. I'm trying to think of what the best attainable options are, and I don't see many safer bets.
I really don't care about one off head to head matchups. It's the dumbest way to evaluate a coach in this situation.
