Official Gruden Thread 38

Money, as you will find with most coaches, is not the problem. It's situation. It's hard to leave a good situation and go into a bad one. Money can't really fix that. You saw that team last night. Gruden probably did too. It's gonna require a lot of work, and a lot of good coaches would probably hesitate to delve into it.

But apparently this narrative only fits Tennessee. Florida is just as bad if not worse, and everyone proclaims them as the best job available.

My hopes and dreams are to get on the first page of the official Gruden Threads. 0 for 38 so far. Oh well, will keep refreshing non stop all day.

I was just thinking about your post and wondered if the current Gruden threads had exceeded the 2012 threads in number of posts. I found this post in another thread (great detective work):

Several posters were curious as to how many posts these forums have actually attained. With the help of a couple other members- Including the work by Mrmax. Here is a spreadsheet containing all Gruden threads.

Official Jon Gruden Thread count reply list

Any suggestions welcome.

So we're still quite a ways from the 2012 threads. By my count, we had about 181,000 posts in 2012. That means we're up to about 140,000 posts in 2017.

Let's hope Gruden is hired before we get to 181,000. :)

My thoughts exactly... There is only one person that fits "someone"

IMO, it could fit a lot of people. You can't just throw money at someone and have them automatically jump at it. You have to look at lifestyle, expectations, etc.

Let's say you live in Lenoir City, TN making $100K working for a company you love. Your commute is a breeze, excellent benefits, on and on.

Would you automatically accept $125K for a job in Nashville, Atlanta, or Memphis just because it's more money? I don't think so, IMO.

And AV, I am available for your department of analysis and sneaky stuff if you ever have that position available.

I promise not to be unreasonable in the contract negotiations.

I don’t mean to step on toes but I’m not really interested in Plan B until I know Plan A is a no-go. So how long can this go on until it becomes detrimental to JG for not shooting it down COMPLETELY AND TOTALLY? I mean it would seem as though the time for vagueness and subtleties is over with. Just say yes or no. Unless it’s still in the works.

So we're back to the Sunday slowdown/sigh fest? I like the frenzied nonsense. It helps keep my mind off of the
usually less glamorous logic of reality.

He's saying the path to Gruden is one they are taking. But if that fails, he's content with the next path we take.

We all should be happy with what he's saying.

Hopefully when you ask for a Transformer for Christmas you get a Transformer..I can't take another Gobot.

Not really' Currie has 7 days to find a coach, otherwise each passing day hurts UT and UT recruiting. No sense of firing Butch early if not going to hire a guy on the first available date. 7 days and this is over and no one can name the top 3 concensus candidates.

Based off media, kicked the tires on Gruden, Patterson, and Frost.

Is this the order?
Gruden
Patterson
Frost

Who is #4 in your opinion?
Gundy? He might get fired.

Interesting as in not a done deal as how I interpreted that. Maybe I’m wrong

For those saying Gruden is a distraction...absolutely not. The AD is not dumb enough to use Gruden, by far the #1 choice of fans and likely the players, as a distraction. That would only hurt the AD and the new coach...a sure-fire way to have the fans hate the new coach on day 1.

No signals from Gruden or the AD to shut down the talk/rumors. It is either happening or they are still working out the details. If the deal dies, then you can bet that Gruden will publicly kill it without actually saying he turned down an offer.

Actually, that is if my coworkers can stand to hear the same song on repeat while I'm compiling my thoughts. I tend to find that keeps my mind orderly.

This morning it might be Peter Cetera and Amy Grant... not saying that's actually the case, but that wouldn't be weird, would it?

No I wouldn’t. But I would say no thanks, I’m happy where I am. However if I start wearing T shirts promoting the other company and every time I got asked about the other job I said “you never know”, then some might speculate I was considering a change. Agreed?

Actually, I'd think it's more of you ask for the Optimus Prime Transformer, but get the Megatron Transformer.

You'd be ecstatic with one, but pretty dang happy with the other as well.

I dont drink. Dont need alcohol. Your I am so drunk and wasted mantra is just dumb. Just be normal dude and drop the online act.

Gruden wants to fix this train wreck, doesn't he?:eek:lol:

Spot on. You should become a shrink!

I’m not asking for Candidates to be named in order as that would not be wise and would be unfair to you but can you give a random top 3 or 5 that are being considered? Seems there is no real list that exists.

Based on meetings, Durkin, Fuente, PSU OC? Are they still on the list? Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving
