I’ve never met a celebrity that didnt love attention (not that I’ve met that many celebrities). But JG is not stupid. If he does just enjoy being worshipped by VN then he has to know this is getting out of hand and his beloved status could turn on him if it comes out that we offered everything imaginable and he still said no. He wouldn’t risk getting booed or some fanatic threatening his son. There has to be a deal in place. It’s the only thing that makes any sense at all. I’m not that smart but I could write a speech on the fly to cover this if I were him. Here goes....
Guys I’m flattered, but I haven’t coached I a long time and never at the collegiate level as a head coach. I love my current job and it allows me the family time I missed for so long in the coaching business. I will die a UT fan, but I’m just a fan. I would help this university in any way I could. But coaching just isn’t in the cards for me.
I wrote that on the fly with no thought at all. You telling us that he doesn’t know it’s getting too serious when we are tracking flights and stalking the AD through the stadium? I don’t believe JG or anybody is that stupid.

Recommendation - don’t try to read anything as coded in AV’s response. I think he just wants to stop people from making fools of themselves. In other words, there’s a big difference between smokescreens and frenzied nonsense.

In all honesty if he’s mulling over a deal that sounds to be worth 10mil a year for a guy who hasn’t coached in 10, claims to love UT and who has pondered it previously **** him!

I’d never beg a girl to go out with me it self destructing and lowers self esteem, we are a huge job, great resources and phenomenal fans/history/stadium... I’d tell him to get lost and hope MNF gets cancelled.

Then why not December 3rd? Conference championship games are on December 2nd. We need time to put a class together before the early signing period.

He can be hired without naming assistants right away no? Unless they want to add names to make a bigger splash. I see no benefit to waiting till the 10th when early signing period is only 10 days away. If Gruden is the guy he should be named SEC championship week. That would be most beneficial for UT and the SEC.

Couple of bullet points to keep some folks that have really bad information in check here...and that’s really all I can do at this point again have to protect the university, the process, and my relationship with it. Everyone will know when we have a new hire...

1. Gruden was not at Calhouns yesterday.
2. Currie primarily flies commercial on UT business..guy is a hustler and should be respected for that.
3. No need to ever track wheels up planes those are not being used for UT business
4. The vast majority of meetings are NOT happening in any location that would “make sense” (Ie, Knoxville etc)
5. Great lengths have been gone into keeping the tail numbers etc that are being used different from ones that have really ever been posted in here before. Take into account my company alone has 5 planes now that may or may not be used all of which none of those tails are known...so imagine how many others are out there. Additionally usually the registration of said planes are done with essentially phony LLC’s in states other than where the planes are used or kept that have no connection to anything that could ever get traced back to an individual.
6. There is a sense of urgency to get this done as quickly as possible but you can’t force someone’s hand purely with $$$. If it were that easy we would have someone already.

I hope everyone who was able to go to game yesterday enjoyed the experience as much as possible. I was bummed that the weather sucked....first time in box for entire game for me in a long time.

I am around a bit today relaxing preparing to turn and burn for the holiday week...I wish each and everyone of you and your families a wonderful thanksgiving holiday. Take time to hug your wife, kids, and parents if they are still around. That’s what its all about.

Atlanta, I believe I can speak for Volnation when I say that we are extremely thankful this Thanksgiving holiday. Thankful to have you as one of us. For one reason only: your kindness and generosity. Seeing the stories of regular Vol fans going to the game for the first time ever made possible by you. Thank you for reminding us of the true Volunteer spirit.

Based on what AV said in post #3788, my faith in those posters is stronger! I’ll leave it at that. I’m good with it. The waiting is the hardest part!

Let’s remember something. I am not here to dispel any particular posters information. You never know who someone is so it is not my place to say someone is wrong and call them out. Let’s all be civil and humane..hiding behind usernames and anonymity on the internet doesn’t give anyone the right to talk poorly of someone or call them names.

I am simply sharing my thoughts on the process and how these things are handled. I did want to specifically help people with some things i had heard or seen in last few days to try and keep everyone from spending their entire day trying to track planes and chase meaningless information that folks are coming in here with simply to stir stuff up.
