It’s not so much that as it is we need to hire someone who is time tested and has been very successful in the Power 5 or NFL that we can trust will recruit and coach at a pretty elite level from day 1. Need someone our opponents will respect from day 1.

Norvell doesn’t suggest that to me. Seems like a guy that would need time to find his footing and sell himself in recruiting.

If the numbers for Gruden are even close to accurate, there is no way we should fall to Norvell, Morris, etc.

What if Gruden is an outlier in that he is the only coach worth that amount of money interested in the job?

Neither are even close to Dooley. Dooley was never a P5 coordinator. Butch wasn't either.

I want Gruden, but you guys are overthinking things.

Yeah. Pretty sure Jones ended up taking a hard pass when he found out Norvell wanted full control of the offense.

Morris and Norvell are 3-4 million coaches. You telling me there are none that would be interested between 4-10?

Mullen told his team he'll be back next season.

A couple of their players said Mullen told them they won't be getting out of offseason conditioning because he'll be their coach.

No high-level success, even as an assistant. He has decent success at Memphis, but hasn't even won the conference yet and he walked into a very good situation following Fuente.

I like Patterson, Peterson, Harbaugh. I could be pretty comfortable with Mullen.

Some of those guys are a stretch but if we are truly throwing 7 million a year and 6 million for staff around, I don’t see why we wouldn’t put that kind of money in front of those guys.

I’m done with up and comers. I will support whomever but I’m not going to invest nearly as much into following the program in the offseason if it’s another up and comer. That profits me nothing and I’ve learned I’m not smart enough to figure out whether top 10 classes or great S&C reports will amount to a hill of beans come game time.

If we're offering Gruden $10.2 million, throw the same offer at John Harbaugh and $9 mil at Patterson or Petersen. Or the same offer to them as well. Do we want to win again or not? Whatever it takes to get them to listen. They'll pay for themselves many times over if we start winning again.
