I’m 60% in the Gruden-is-the-smokescreen camp. I think that explains everything that concerns LWS.

That would be the dumbest thing Currie could have ever done. Unless he trots out Peterson or Patterson, or some other great name, he is going to crucified.

LWS is not a believer...

I respect Larry despite his negativity. Wts, the "amount of time" comment is short-sighted.
Could be out of respect to current coaches.
Could be because it's a life changing event for his entire family. Gruden doesn’t need the money. If I were him, I would take every moment allowed to think it through.

I don’t think he’s contacted all these guys that are rumored. My guess is he’s contacted Dale Jones and Randy Sanders along with Dave Blackburn. All of those guys crossed paths with Gruden in Knoxville.

I don’t buy Jay Graham, Tee Martin. No connection there and Tee is not coming back here right now IMO. He doesn’t make sense as Gruden’s OC.

A lot of this stuff takes off because of one rumor ending up getting reported by a legit outlet. Then the fake insiders start coming up with similar stories.

Dale Jones and David Blackburn got mentioned by basilio and Brice reported it shortly after. Piggy backers start throwing stuff at the wall after that. “Tee Martin has been contacted” is just copy cat fake insider crap.

All JMO.

Tee makes no sense to me. Jay Graham a little. Sanders does a lot because of the rumors of him being out this year at FSU.

You don’t use Gruden as a smoke screen. Would be like me convincing my kids they are getting iPads for Christmas because I don’t want them to figure out I got them some clothes.

What if Gruden turned us down... but Currie and Gruden both agreed to keep the smoke alive to help mask our search and help gruden leverage ESPN or NFL jobs. That’s the most likely scenario imo

I think Auburn beats Bama this year. Bama hasn't been tested all year.

Agreed. With all the injuries to Bamas LBs, and their DL not able to get pressure on its own it fits right into what auburn wants to do on offense.

Also really impressed with what Kevin Steele has done with that defense. Everyone loves to talk offense about them because of Malzahn but they have a lot of talent. They'll make Jalen Hurts look real pedestrian

I’m telling y’all...I’ve said it multiple times. Not only has LWS not shot this thing down, but he absolutely knows Gruden has already signed the contract! He has been asked to continue playing his role on message boards to give extremely low percentages that Gruden takes the deal, because that is how everyone knows him. If he were to post a % anywhere over 50%, everyone would know Gruden is already locked in.

I do think Larry is a mouthpiece for the AD in some form or fashion. Maybe not all the time but I do think he gets fed information. It's no secret that the AD keeps tabs on message boards and Twitter. Would make sense that they also have people working to help control narratives.

I should have kept reading before posting about LWS’ first post. Lol! He does make great points though about how secretive Currie usually is. Doesn’t make sense. Who knows?! Surely, there’s no way Currie is truly using Gruden as a smokescreen??? Right? Guy?

I hate that we are the laughing stock of NCAA football. Just watched game day and they all chuckled when Tennessee was brought up! So sick of this

Look, I don't know who we are going to get, but can we all agree to stop posting these hypotheticals about lower tier guys coming? It's ridiculous. There is no secret or smokescreen that we have PLENTY of money to throw at our target, probably enough to make just about anyone come here (other than Gruden) even if they are currently pretty happy. If we want them bad enough, the dollars will flow.
Currie has made statements- don't believe anything unless it comes from me... right? Well he has stated this is his main focus, and he is going to swing for the fences... with bags of money. So, Currie is a brand new AD with a lot to gain and lose moving forward. HE IS NOT GOING TO GET SOME NORVELL DURKIN SATTERFIELD, when there are better options out there. I say the lowest we drop to would be Mullen, and that would be plan C or D.

Tee wants a head coaching job and I guarantee he would consider it an insult that our job is open but instead we ask him to interview for the offensive coordinator job.

Also, he's got some baby mama drama in Knoxville that wouldn't be worth the pain for an OC gig.

Very excited to see Offensive Coordinator Larry Scott and Defensive Coordinator Bob Shoop make their Debuts today.

This. I've been hesitant to judge either one of these dudes if Even a fraction of the rumors about Jones being a micromanager are true.

No way Currie would do that to this fanbase.

Such a small, small percentage of fans are on message boards. I highly doubt Currie sat down and came up with a message board misinformation strategy.

Rumors start on message boards and Twitter and make their way to Facebook and water coolers.

See it every day with my brother. He's not on message boards but works with a lot of UT fans who presumably aren't either. He'll probably text me about the Dale Jones post on Thursday.

That would be insanely stupid of Currie unless he lands a Patterson level HC.

You want to know how powerful the Grumors are? I was with two MSU alums last night who mentioned Grumors and molegate before I could even discuss it.

And ... Currie is not going to troll/tease this fanbase with Gruden injections while he is getting someone else. He has got to still be in play. Now Currie may be talking with other candidates to gauge interest, but again, he has too much to lose for it to come out that he used Gruden smoke to fool us. Let's be sensible.
