Mullen has done better than 8-4 multiple times at Miss. State. Why would that be his ceiling at a better school in a weaker division?

Just getting ready to leave Pittsburg and head back WV. Game was good last night, bit chilly tho! Saw Cam, he wasn't dressed tho. Never did see Dobbs, not sure he was even there. We were 7 rows up from the field on the 20.

Cliff notes from the past 24 hours please?
Gruden talk done?

If you have great QB play. You’re always gonna have a chance. Still the most important position in all of sports.

I consider what Jon did yesterday morning, while knowing he has the fan base of the university he claims to admire so much on a string, trolling if he knew he wasn't going to take the job. When people like Beaver and other trusted "insiders" come out multiple times saying it's a done deal when all the while it wasn't, it's trolling.

What has JAV done to make people believe he is connected? Honest question, I'm trying to determine how much I value that statement.

We have all of these insiders, but none of them have ever given me a reason to care about their posts with the exception of LWS.

We need an insider report sheet to keep track of them.

It had to have been advanced way beyond that. Before that platoon of big wigs went to Tampa they'd have had to be close to a deal. He may have ultimately turned it down but it had to be close for all that to have occurred. JMO

I really think all of this info is now lagging behind. This is probably info after his first no that there were too many hurdles.

Pretty sure he said it was a done deal a week ago. That got Larry to move from 5% to 7.5% confidence level.

I’m not sure what to make of that.

This. It's hoping and wishing. I get it, but people aren't looking at this realistically. They are looking at it from the angle of a super fan and what they want to happen.

None of these people know for sure what is going on behind the scenes, period. It's all speculation at this point.

He has not signed anything. No one of substance has suggested otherwise. I don't know that's he's turned us down yet either though. But the early reports are not positive.

Unless UT is ready to announce this today or tomorrow (which I don't think was ever the plan) I don't think they would get that info, if it did happen. And if they did, it would be something they put their neck out on, because they can't verify that with the AD which is where they want to hear it from.
IIRC Hargis got blasted for just implying that Gruden was interested and contacting some guys. And he never mentioned him being close to signing anything.

I'm hardly the first to say this but I've been asked about it a ton. Jon Gruden will not be the HC at UT. Definitive no and we are moving on. There were always hurdles to hire him. We tried to go over, under and around those hurdles but it is not going to happen in the end. This is NOT a failure by UT administration. It just comes down to a guy that does not want to coach college football. There is no reason to be angry, downtrodden or depressed about this. There are very good football coaches who are interested in coming here. We need to celebrate that truth and get ready for the next opportunity to be a great football program again. I would also caution listening to anyone who claims AD sources in all of this. Any talk is coming from boosters and other coaches. Currie isn't leaking anything. That means that info is going to be hard to come by, even for the very best of journalists

Screw that puss y Gruden then if true. That Rocky Top song thing on the radio is the final straw if he is not coming here. If he is coming then cool. If not then I never want to see him around UT again. Like I said earlier, it was in his lap. This is either the greatest play ever by UT or else Gruden is a real piece of work.
