The Hubbs message board post doesn't really say what you want it to. It says he got a "message" that a deal was done. He hasn't been able to confirm. In times like these, Hubbs probably gets dozens of messages saying all sorts of stuff on a daily basis.

You don't know Hubbs...he would never mention it if he didn't think it was reliable.

You are 100% right but it is not like Hubbs post rumors all day. If he is willing to at least put it out there, then he believes something is going on.

Yep. If you speak Hubbsish, this basically means "Someone I know to be reliable is telling me it's a done deal, and I'm trying to verify it with other sources, but haven't been able to yet". Hubbs would absolutely not put that out there if it was random Joe Schmo telling him it was a done deal.

Is Hubbs one to even say something like that though if he thought the message was bs? Seems like he wouldn't say anything at all.

I read it as him saying he’s heard all the rumors we have, including one saying the deal is done at ten million, but that he can’t verify anything.

Basically it’s newspeak for calm down, we’re on this, I’ll let you know when I hear something.

It’s been said several times.......sit back and enjoy the ride.

It's sad that some of you are so spiteful that you're rooting against what could be the greatest hire in college football history. GTFO and let the rest of us enjoy this.

Oh I'm sure he believes something is going on. But "something is going on" and "a deal is done" are two totally different things.

The guy that set off a lot of the Grumors this morning, Stephen Hargis, said on Chattanooga radio not too long ago that he thought there was a 3:1 chance a deal gets done. Said that unlike in 2012 was interest from Gruden, which I buy, but that there are a ton of moving parts to get worked out first, likely about staff.

Was in a meeting and missed the last little bit of whats going on in here. refreshed it and i was 20 pages behind lol...

Do your all's bosses know how hard your working this week? :p

Hell, if I'm Patterson and any of the courtship of Gruden is true, why the hell should is sit around waiting and playing second fiddle? So much BS about Gruden. If this guy wanted to be here, he'd have been announced by now. The writing was on the wall for Butch weeks ago. Currie could have and would have had all these details worked out well in advance since Gruden isn't actively coaching a team. This is nothing but pure fantasy and rumor. Hope and pray Currie has made his choice from among the real candidates and is pursuing him and selling him on this job. Making him feel and know that he's our number one and only choice. The idea a top coach would be content as a backup option is silly. All these guys have huge egos. No way they'll sit and wait on UT to go through a courtship with Gruden. Plain sick of all the grumor nonsense. Just ridiculous.

He says he received a message and said he could not validate it. If it was someone he thought was bankable he would report it. He also goes on to say he has heard the rumors. I took it as him saying he has heard from an unverified source, like someone on here, and can't substantiate it. At the end he even says if he had news he would report it.

He wouldn't even mention it unless he thought there was a very good chance that it was true.
