Official Jon Gruden Thread 34

Y'all believe in prophecies? If so hang on to your butts:

After seeing the link to Kamara's comments on Gruden, I got the itch to see some highlights. I went to YouTube and searched "Alvin Kamara highlights."

First video was highlights against the Bills (106 yds, 1TD)

Before the video played an ad came on. What was the ad? JON MF'ing GRUDEN's bobble head MNF commercial advertising the 1-800-9GRUDEN hotline!

If that ain't trying to tell you something....

Soon

You know that google targets ads based on your search history, right?

ETA: but yeah, want to believe!

I thought of him a few days ago.

A few days ago I was looking back to see which Gruden thread I became a believer. (Gruden II by the way) He was posting then too about people he was playing golf with... I didn’t remember him but it was similar in nature. He really brought some clarity about the ESPN saga last month...

He certainly brought confirmation on that for me.

The Swain shuffle yesterday was a controlled narrative. I sincerely believe Swain knows more than just about anyone here. His tactics were prototypical of a protectionist. He wants Gruden as much as us, but he also has a job to do. His narrative was an attempt to get everyone off the trail of what purportedly occurred yesterday evening and last night.

The closure has come to pass with Jones out of the way, now it's time to hold steady to the course. Patience VN!

Gruden to the Hill!

It's the first time it's ever elected to play that ad. And I watch a lot of YT

Edit: you're 99% most likely spot on with this, but I'm so deep in now that my denial is strong when it comes to any logical explanations

So no Chip Kelly in Florida?

Florida: On the Buddy Martin Radio Show, Steve Spurrier noted that he believes the Gators will have “an excellent coach here in 3-4 weeks,” and then added; “The coach is with his team now. The coach we’re going to hire is probably, I would almost 100 percent say is coaching his team today, this weekend, and through the end of the season, and maybe through the bowl game

Sounds like Spurrier knows it is either Frost or Mullen. Or Taggart or Strong.

Well, that rules out Butch......

Blackburn says Gruden still a viable option to coach Vols, says Gruden would listen to offer

"He and I communicate from time to time," said Blackburn. "I would definitely think he's a viable option. He's a guy who loves coaching and loves Tennessee. Our history is probably the reason we get along so well, my dad was a coach in a small town and Jon is a rural Ohio guy whose dad was a coach, so we're just two good ol' boys who like to talk football.

"I can't sit here and say he will take it if offered, but I do think he would listen. Tennessee is like home for him and he'd be a great fit."

I know this is already in here somehwere. Sorry I posted it again. :)

Again, just to reiterate the significance:

Imagine you’re Hargis. Imagine you wrote that piece in 2012 ready to “blow up” the story of Gruden coming to TN - only for it to not happen for whatever reason, hundreds of people call you a liar, and have a frenzied portion of the fanbase (of which you identify) directly mad at YOU for getting their hopes up. You’re basically deemed a phony for years about the article you wrote as it takes a long time for even fragments of what happened to actually come out (and even now it’s still pretty muddy).

Why would you risk this backlash again? Granted, he’s not saying it’s a done deal, but why even associate your name to this story if a decent percentage of yourself thinks it’s all smoke and mirrors. You’d be the reporter who cried wolf again, and the backlash the second time could very easily be worse than the first go round. So why would you do it? You’ve had conversations. Likely several. With people involved, who have likely assured (maybe even guaranteed) that this isn’t like it was in 2012. It isn’t just getting lucky by sitting next to one guy who got a phone call during lunch. It’s likely several people, important people, who are saying the same things. Only then would you feel safe to throw your hat back in the ring. Personally, I can’t envision him doing this for clicks, or temporary celebrity, or to troll the UT fanbase. I think he has something. See his reference to “off the record” conversations.

Trust me I am not confused. Reading your posts, you don’t appear to be looking for hope. If that is what you are doing, sit back, relax and enjoy the entertainment which is this thread. Almost everyone in here knows it may not happen. This isn’t about debate. It’s about a place for those who hope for all things Gruden to hang out, consume some grumors, share some laughs, and get home safely. It’s a place for us to talk about JG and not mess with y’alls other discussion. Not everyone in here is wearing a tin foil hat but we get along and have fun. Your need to poke and “enlighten” everyone is what is wrong. If you don’t like the way people are rooting for gruden, just leave. Why the need to say something negative towards them. I’m not gonna fight with you. Go Vols, have a great day... just don’t stay if you don’t like it. Save yourself the heartburn.
Fair enough

Spoke with former UTC AD David Blackburn - who spent 20 years in the UT athletic department - for about an hour last night. Great conversation with some good off the record info. But I think his on the record quotes and info will be very interesting for Vols fans. Its onlline now

Stephen Hargis, TFP

Blackburn says Gruden still a viable option to coach Vols, says Gruden would listen to offer | Times Free Press

Blackburn neither confirmed nor denied whether Gruden has asked him to be on his UT staff, but did shoot down any idea that he'd have any problems working under Currie.

Boom!!! (???) !!!
