I agree that other teams fans will downplay the hire. I think that sports news, sportswriters and talk radio will be all over it.

As much as people have made fun of UT fans for thinking that JG would coach here, it will register for sure.

Let's say I have a business relationship with someone on the BOT and that BOT member tells me some info regarding the coaching situation. If I was to leak that info here, does anyone think the info could be traced back to the BOT member and get him/her in trouble?

I’d love it, but I think you’re greatly over selling the way other fans will view the hire. It will be spun as dumb and an over-priced un-proven gamble, with Chip Kelly being the known big winner. The only thing that will silence that is if he wins, and wins big, in the first two years.

A lot of fans and media guys that specifically follow/cover college football would say that.

However, the overwhelming reaction would be shock and awe that Tennessee pulled it off. And it should be common sense that winning in the NFL is harder than winning in college.

Just ask Chip Kelly.

I'm going to trust that Gruden knows what he is doing, but I can't say I am sold on a staff of former vols. Of course it depends on who it is. I know it is important to get VFLs back on the hill to teach these kids, but I'd like to see the best coaches possible involved and that may not always be a VFL.

I'm not certain of specifics and I don't necessarily think that the entire staff will be comprised of former VOLS but from what I was told is that he thinks the pride and tradition would be re-established by the majority being made up of VFL's that are also capable teachers

Cannot argue with this logic.. After hearing this all rirsthand I am as giddy as my children on Christmas morning
