Floyd Reese says we'll be lucky to close with a top 30 class this year no matter who the coach is.

hell-naw-nah-gif

Im sure they said that about Jones and he did pretty well

Can I get a nugget? I've gone back and skimmed but can't find what you are referencing.

The guys name is concep and he is one of them, I think. I believe he was straightening out the stalking horse reference. Everyone was jumping to conclusions based on the Wikipedia link someone posted. But there is another...yher stalking horse OFFER. Way different way to interpret.

The more I read and listen the more I get the feeling folks(school, boosters, assistants, and players) have wanted Butch out for a lonnnnng time. Listening between the lines especially the IC Brady H presser and Currie presser I really think what ever is gonna happen is already done. Gotta move quick because of the early signing period. Not moving quick enough will be a big set back with recruiting. If we really have the white whale I see absolutely no reason this goes past the SEC championship game. If it goes past there we have hit the 2nd or 3rd tier. Please God let the suck stop.

Your interpretation of the rule is incorrect. Anyone contacting a recruit and saying, "Hey man come to UT" is not a violation of any rule and doesn't make that person a booster. If that person is working on behalf of the University and is actively recruiting, that's a different subject. All of this is moot though, because it is highly unlikely Mays was contacted by Gruden.

Yep, it's probably moot, because the rumor is probably false.

But you're dead wrong about the rule book. You contact a recruit and encourage him to go to a specific university, and you are by definition a booster.

Now, that doesn't mean the university is automatically in trouble. The NCAA investigates, and if they find out that some yahoo named Bearcat in Tennessee did it as a lark, to try to get Bama in recruiting trouble, they'll close the investigation with no harm, no foul.

But in this rumored case, Gruden could hardly come off as some yahoo just fooling around.
