Recruiting Forum Football Talk XLIII

I know a BAD high school coach who did it 20 years ago.

I remember when people were saying "no way you can blame Butch for these insane amounts of injuries." I think one person was even belligerent about it, but I'm too lazy to drag up the posts lol. It is crazy that in 2017 a football coach is doing heavy practices the day before a game.

Core of the 2018 class has to be Martinez, Penix, Emerson, Lawless, Litaker, and hopefully Mays. Land those guys and the next coach is set up to make noise in 2019.

You know, after years of following recruiting I look at these names and think, I have no idea if any will pan out. I hope they do. And having a lot of names on a list like this helps reduce the bust factor. But projecting success from a single recruiting class is no guarantee of anything. Just ask Butch Jones.

I'm withholding judgment on Butch for now. He had a good formula through 2015. Made some bad changes that cost him his job.

I have no inside info. Just my from what I read and hear, my fear is Grudens dream job is to go back to Tampa Bay.

I think Gruden is deciding between UT and Tampa Bay at the moment and I think Tampa Bay wins out.

I hope I’m wrong.

I don't know, that Chris Low article from last week makes me think there is nothing for TCU to worry about from us.

That was just part of my dismissal of him as a candidate. But IF the meetings info is true? Hatecrimes every narrative I’ve built. :dunno:

They've got some good pieces to build around for sure. If he really does have an offer from them, he'll definitely take it, imo

Why? That was all Mike Hamilton. Hammy is gone.

I think GP stays put but we fired the guy that told him he was a mid major coach 9 years ago.

Currie was his right hand man. He very well could have been in on that message.

At any rate, it didn't paint the picture of Patterson having anything but sour feelings about Tennessee.

Fact is, most of us were like that. This place is the pit of positivity. We will absolutely believe the best until it is proven otherwise. We defended him to no end after last season. But it became clear to me after Florida that it was over. Took a few others a couple more weeks. But this place is great. We are positive until we have a an absolutely clear reason not to be

Thankfully Butch Jones won't be coaching them.

Why do you think Tampa would win out? He's been there done that, they fired him from a job that he loved.

He could get another NFL job easily. He'd never come here, and if he did, he'd be gone in a year or two.

He's a huge reach, I'll admit. I just wonder if he's sick of the NFL and that Jim has influenced him to consider college.

Their dad was a lifer in college. Plus, I just can't reconcile why the hell his name was ever brought up unless there was something there. It's so random and out of left field that I feel like there had to be something to it.

Mack Brown, Fulmer, and Spurrier should do a radio show together I wouldn't mind sitting by the fire and listening to old grid iron stories. But Mack Brown is done.

Where can I pay money for this?

Get Spurrier all the Bud heavy he can handle, Fulmer a cushy recliner, and Mack Brown a 5 gallon bucket of Werther's and it would be GOLD.

It'd be worth it for buzzed Spurrier to ramble on while you hear Phil dad-snoring in his chair. "Hey big guy, you ok over there? Ha! Hell Mack, he's fine...anyways, at Science Hill one time..."

That works. I could probably say it better but who’s got the time? :)
