As a Titans fan, I hope you're right and you may very well be. I just don't think it's the lock you see it as. We do agree on Houston being toast though. Jacksonville is the competition at this point, and they've been playing well recently. I could easily see the Titans finishing 9-7. If that happens and the Jags edge them out in the division, Mularkey would likely be done. I hope it doesn't work out that way, but I don't think it's that far fetched.

The Jags being good have been a surprise. I still think Titans will be fine and have a shot at 10-6. Even if they don’t win the division they could still make the wildcard.

Currie doesn't think an interim has a better chance of getting this team to a bowl game. Virtually no one at UT thinks this team is getting to a bowl game. Even at 5-7, UT doesn't have the APR to make a bowl. Currie is on campus early for the LVs. He's supposed to speak to the team. So normal Sunday meetings were bumped up.

What a joke. At least show some consideriation for the future and that you want to get things moving. We are going 4-8 with or without butch this year it seems. I’d rather do it without him

[Twitter]Dan Mullen’s Reps should have a few messages with an 865 area code this morning...Such a great game[/Twitter]

It's funny that the guys on the Vols subreddit make fun of VN (although they are presumably talking about the FF).

Those guys are unbelievably misinformed about the program and CFB in general. I guess it should be expected seeing as how the average age over there is late teens/early 20s.

Yeah there's a lot more older people here, generally more informed than the fruitcakes on reddit.

How old are you Aesius?

While you're right, it still seems to me he could be fired today for no other reason than to appease the fanbase and give the appearance a plan is being formulated behind the scenes.

You, I, everyone knows we're talking to replacements right now. But they may see this as an opportunity to show it publicly.

Currie wanted to fire and hire in a short window. He's had donors all over him for weeks. But the team was moderately competitive until last night. That could change his plan-- not because of an irate fanbase, but because of irate donors who can impact fundraising for the stadium reno.

Currie's not unlike CBJ-- stubborn, arrogant, unyielding. He won't be happy about having to adapt his plan... but donors might force his hand.

I could also see a 10-6 finish as a realistic possibility. The Titans have just been so inconsistent. I feel like I don't know what to expect from one week to the next. I mean they had to go overtime to beat the Browns 3 weeks ago. They were terrible in that game. They've also looked really good at times. I hope they can finish strong and make some noise in the playoffs, but nothing would surprise me with inconsistent play they've shown so far.

30. Just old enough to have clear memories of basically the entire 90s run, including all of Peyton's career. I actually briefly "lost interest" in the Vols from around 2002-2006 or so, but still went to a game or two every year with my dad. I remember him talking about how the program wasn't what it used to be even back then.

Shows severe lack of judgmental decision making ability, imo.

Anyone anywhere can stick to a plan. Skill is involved in adjusting when the variables change.

I hope you're right. I'm still not understanding why pissing the fans off would be a bonus. Even if he dies march Gruden out there, I'll still question his skill in how he's handled this. I get tired of the games these ADs play. Seems unnecessary to me.

Dude,

In good faith, I called and committed last week. I am about ready to call and remove that pledge Tuesday if he is still walking the sideline. My son is having to watch the worse football in UT history. He knows it is not good but is learning it is the worse. We keep this course and when he is older he is going to think I am more stupid than what a normal 18 year old would think of his father. 33 point loss to an unranked 1-4 in conference team is horrific. Overall, 17 looked better than 12 so don't give me the freshman bit.

Stubborn, arrogant, and unyielding are fine traits if you're intelligent and competent.

Right - that team quit last night. Currie saw it I think he was waiting for it.

Definitely inconsistent. They Still find a way to win though. Sign of a good team struggling to put it all together.

Like I said I think Currie believes Butch was the best coaching option on staff to get to a bowl game. I don't think he's "playing games", I think he's doing his job. UF fired Mac mid season and how'd that work out?

We were better than that Florida team but we got beat worse than they did to Mizzou last night so it is working out better for them. Plus JM is a better coach than BJ. That is if we are talking about football coaches instead of something else.

Mac will get another P5 job and be successful. CBJ is going to be knocked back down to the dredges of lower-tier G5 jobs after this. And he'll be lucky to land one.
