This Sunday feels like every other Sunday for the last month or so.
Sunday morning -Everyone wakes up hungry for news of a press conference announcement.

Sunday afternoon -No press conference today so that must mean it will be on Monday replacing the normal weekly presser.

Sunday night/Monday morning -The thread is flooded with rumors and information from "people close to the situation" that all point to it being done and will become official on Monday.

Monday press conference -Butch marches out firing off cliches looking forward to the next game while fielding softball questions from the media.

But not buying it. When someone says, "Just got back to the hotel," they're talking about the one they're staying at. It's "back to" because they were there the night before, or when they checked in. And it's "the hotel," rather than "the tailgate," because their mind sub-consciously assigns a role to the location (where I sleep, versus where I socialize).

People use phrases that give information even without thinking about it. He said:

That's not how you'd say it if you left the game and were now back at the tailgate party.

But appreciate you letting me know about his efforts at damage control. I'll keep an eye open for them.

I don’t believe his story, but I have to admit I’ve been in this very situation and used the same verbiage he did. I don’t think “back to” is as meaningful as you want it to be.

You know what I believe. While I do not completely write off the chance of Gruden I am pretty sure our next coach is currently coaching elsewhere. I just do not see any way they can allow Butch to finish the season. They were very concerned about Homecoming being ugly just wait till the LSU game if they don't pull the trigger. Send in an interim the players can rally around and fans will be elated that Butch is gone. Maybe it would even bleed into the players if they went with a very well liked assistant as interim.

VT hired Fuente from Memphis before seasons end. It don't agree with it but it does happen. Memphis lost a game that they should not of lost because of it.

If the next coach is not in the bag, fire him now; at least we get an early start on the search.

It is looking more and more like we are hiring a coach who is presently coaching. Look at the facts. And it's probably Mullen I am afraid. No better than Butch, can't win big games, handed the Bama win to Saban instead of coaching with confidence in the final minutes. And we will lose out on Frost when Florida hires him.

SFD can and will stand up for herself. But if youve followed this thing along, she’s definitely not trolling. She could be wrong, but most of her statements have been put together by adding up info, not providing info.

People who are saying it's just like 2012 are really saying that the EMOTIONS are the same. Not the facts. Because the facts are clearly NOT the same.

Most can't separate the emotional from the equation though. And so you have everyone convinced their hearts will be broken again.

It’s nothing 2012 from a factual standpoint. All the info was coming from the AD side of things. Not very much, if any info was from boosters who were sick of the crap show. I believe their ‘shiv-a-git” meter hadnt reached its capacity yet. Now, all of the info is coming from boosters and VFLs. Which leads me to believe thuthat want us to know that if it doesn’t happen this time, who’s fault it really is. Gruden may still say no, but not because we didn’t try. I’m okay with that.

If he is not then I am ready to close up shop until I hear, read or see something that is solid about Gruden... There is nothing in the actions of our AD that (at this time) points to that

I am feeling the same way Coasty...... Not so much because we haven't heard anything solid on Gruden but rather because Butch is still the head coach which in my mind speaks volumes about the ineptitude of the John Currie and our athletic department.

He's competing in the SEC West at MSU. Butch would look like an even bigger joke over there than he does here.
