Sorry if I'm stating the obvious, but do you think this is all about a power struggle between the boosters and the AD? Allowing them to bring in their guy (Gruden) and front so much of the bill would be equivalent to handing the keys to the AD over to the boosters.

I don't. Although I do think it's possible that refusing to pull the Butch trigger now could be currie flexing the tiny bit of muscle he can.

At this point I would tell Gruden (if we are talking with him as we have been told) It is time to decide, our program is burning to the ground.... If you want this job, we will do what ever is necessary to see you get it... However we are at a point that we need a decision!

But that is just me....

I thought it was a done deal already?

Agree as well. We don't have time to just keep twiddling our thumbs here. Early signing is next month! Either put up or shut up- do you want this job or not?

I find it hard to believe that nobody on the coaching staff wants the interim job for two games. Sure, it's probably going to be two losses but they would have a built in excuse ( I took over for Butch Jones ). Two games head coaching in the SEC would enhance a lot of resumes.

Gruden would be a bad hire for Tn. We have had three bad hires. Do you won't a fourth?

Then who's an ace in the hole, sure fire, instant impact guy?

If it's not Gruden which I feel it isn't
It's not any other high profile guy
We're looking at another "diamond in the rough hopeful"
Brohm or Fleck

It's been stated many times before by many posters much more respected than me that Jimmy is nothing more than a mouthpiece for the AD. I am concerned he is spewing this lower tier coach crap to get the general fan base looking in that direction. Then when the AD marches out someone like Mullen, it will look like a home run by comparison.

puppet on a string.

People who are saying it's just like 2012 are really saying that the EMOTIONS are the same. Not the facts. Because the facts are clearly NOT the same.

Most can't separate the emotional from the equation though. And so you have everyone convinced their hearts will be broken again.

This.

Grudemorning people. Well, it took me longer to get over the speed bump in the Kroger parking lot this morning than it did to get over that loss last night. Yeah, apathy has set in. Of course it has when you can't even tell how much this admin really cares, if at all, at this point. But I don't know a single organization that can continue to deliver such a colossal failure of a product/service and eventually not suffer the financial consequences as such.

Gave up my season tix after last season. Pretty much refuse to make the donation and jump back in until I see that the admin cares as much or more than the average season ticket holder does. Y'all do what you want but know this, even with the big boosters over there, they still gotta have the average Joe (that's me...very average) making their donation and purchasing season tickets. Take that away from them and their financial situation changes A LOT over there in that AD. The next hire will tell us all we need to know about how much this admin cares about this program and if we should even care at all afterward.

IF Gruden was onboard (as some would have us believe) there would be zero reason to keep him after last nights record loss.

The only reason I could see to keep him past today is if we are talking with a coach who is presently coaching and we are buying time until he finishes his year out

You know what I believe. While I do not completely write off the chance of Gruden I am pretty sure our next coach is currently coaching elsewhere. I just do not see any way they can allow Butch to finish the season. They were very concerned about Homecoming being ugly just wait till the LSU game if they don't pull the trigger. Send in an interim the players can rally around and fans will be elated that Butch is gone. Maybe it would even bleed into the players if they went with a very well liked assistant as interim.

The longer this takes, the more money I have to spend to supply beer for my dad and I on Saturdays. His stories of the '98 season stopped helping this year. :mf_surrender:

SFD is and has been trolling hard.

I agree 100% I hate to say this but my Grudeometer is dropping by the hour

UT will hire a coach not named Gruden and SFD and her ilk will conjure up some fantasy scenario explaining that it’s all a smokescreen, and end it with a “soon.”
