For all you young people that game last night was what it used to look like when we beat Vandy. Yes we had another team make us look like Vandy. Not a good team or a great team mind you.

Worst VOLS team ever and the most boring. I was turning the channel to watch Bama/Miss State and Mark Richt during that mess. I don't think I've ever done that before.

I did the same. Actually, stopped watching about midway through the 3rd.

Pretty sure we beat Vandy. Few will agree with me now, but I'm pretty sure we beat them. It's going to be like two blind men looking for an apple in the middle of an ice skating rink, but we find the apple.

For the sake of recruiting, Currie should announce today that CBJ will not be retained next season but he will coach out the remainder of the season. A search for the new coach will begin immediately and he hopes CBJ and our seniors go out on a high note the last two weeks.

On second thought - maybe I should just be the AD so we can get some crap done around here for a change.

Nope. They will run the ball down our throat, just like every other team. Our DL is horrible. Hoke was a terrible hire. No one ever makes a play in the run game. Then our LBs run to hit blockers and RB runs right by them. It’s sad, yet we still continue putting 6 in the box. We will do the same trash the next 2 weeks, unlike most of other teams who would sell out to stop the run and make the offenses beat you in the pass game.

All while Bituli rides the pine and Jumper grasps at air as the RB runs by him.

Announcers said he could play if needed last night unless I misunderstood.

Any else hear that?

Oh okay. I was just thinking that meant like he could go in an emergency role because his ankle was so bad.

I guess what I was envisioning was if McBride went down he’d be capable of coming in and handing off and doing a few things in a very limited capacity. I didn’t see it as a toughness thing.

But idk.

That LSU D Line vs that Vol OLine next week. Omg.

Very tough kid at least after one game.
JG had me believing he was tough after a few games but that is gone now. Not a good look last night for him hearing He could play if needed.

If Butch is gone today, I fully expect some of the OL to be available all of a sudden...Richmond, Kendrick, Tatum. I think many of the “injured” players have quit on Butch and refuse to play for him. We will see.

Turned a SEC proud program into a pee wee football team.

Good Morning, VN.

And as Val Kilmer said in "Tombstone": Well, that was a bust.

I quit watching at the half. Apparently, I quit right before UT did. In hindsight, the 2017 season has been a slow, painful descent into the murky depths of "will we ever be good again". In foresight, I honestly don't think we've bottomed out yet. The LSU game is a loss. The current state of the roster, injuries, poor coaching, poor execution, and the kicked dog mentality of this team all but guarantee a loss next Saturday. This team has surrendered record yards, points, and likely losses this season. No excuse will suffice, and nothing short of a miracle will salvage what little is left of the 2017 season, and Volunteer Pride. This will be one for the record books. Go ahead and stock up on liquor.

It will come down to the Vandy game, and a question of "who wants it more?" Even at home, and even against Vandy, I don't like our chances. At that point, being 4-7...with a lame duck staff...a disgruntled and vocal fanbase in the stands...and with nothing to play for but pride...it would not surprise me to see UT play just well enough to lose.

It says a lot that at this point, we would take 5-7 as a good thing. The trashcan with "Team 121" on it turned out to be an omen. Should have used a dumpster. And lighter fluid.

So...now we wait and see who will inherit this hot mess, and how long it will take them to turn things around. With the current roster, recruiting picture, and what-have-you, I have to think that regardless of the new staff, it's probably 2020 before we can make a serious run at the SEC again. Three more years. Lines take a year or two to build and gel, and we have exactly one lineman on the roster who could start for any other SEC team. So don't order the "Jon Gruden 2018 SECCG ticket package" just yet. It's going to take some time to clean up this mess.

But it all starts with the right head coach. Cross your fingers, say your prayers, light your candles, sacrifice your chickens, and most importantly mail those checks to the UTAD. This ain't gonna be easy, or cheap.

Go Vols.

All the good things Butch has done for the program are evaporating . If Butch has been stubborn about staying he is an idiot. His career as a head coach is severely damaged.
Makes me sick that he is going to be paid millions to leave. Run it into the ground and get a golden parachute. If this was a corporation we would find out he sold his stock before last season.
