Official Jon Gruden thread 32.

I still can't believe we passed on Gary Patterson for Kiffin. That story online that Patterson told was very...very telling. Lets not let this happen again....for the love of everything. Gruden....now!

If Gruden was to become HC at UT, Ithink the most surprising thing will be he loves recruiting. Not dealing with the immature 17 year olds but the fact that he gets to look at a board and say let’s get him, him, and him, without having to worry about a contract or a salary cap

He loves working with players. He would love grooming these kids.

From what i 100% know, UT has made the required monetary offer and have also done some admin changes that where required too.

Everything that Jon needed to make it happen, has happened. Currie has cut off a lot of info so the info that comes is spotty and incomplete.

I really do thank you for all the info you have given out. The problem is everyone, myself included , wants UT to be the team we once were so badly that anything other than what we precieve as the best will but nothing more than what it is......less. I think we are all just sick of....less.

How much longer we got Exile? I'm ready for the boom...

Honestly? I don't know. I was told Friday morning that we would be getting some outright wrong information coming this weekend. I was also told that the outright wrong information would be controlled releases from the AD.

Nothing has changed my belief on Gruden. I've been going back and forth with some posters in private conversations as to whether Butch is gone this weekend. Yesterday I was less than 50% that he would be gone.

people "in the know" don't know how the rest of us feel like right now ... no offense ... you're confident and we're on the outside hoping for a peek inside, falling apart in our orange hearts.

dto's gruden to tampa thing is gutwrenching because we don't have sources ... you are our sources.

i hope you can understand what i'm trying to say, and honestly, no offense.

I hear you. And that makes sense. What I'm saying is that this whole thing has been a roller coaster. Go back to 6pm today. At that point, this place was very optimistic, and not just because of posters on here like DTO or Boro, or OldVol, but because of what Swan said on VQ and how there's been growing optimism toward Gruden coming.

I have heard similar things, which is why I have been optimistic. I'm definitely not as connected as some. But, as I've stated for a while now, it's just been a matter of timing. I've said that and stand by that. The circle of "insiders" started out very small, and I give props to Currie for that. But over the past week it's grown, because of certain developments. Have I seen an MOU or an actual agreement? No. But I'm very confident this gets done.

So don't let a bad loss to Mizzou and 1 comment about how "some think he may be meeting with Tampa" derail your whole thought process here.

Patience.

If the money is there and they've made admin changes on his behalf, I don't see him not coming.

So in other words, any potential meeting with Tampa could be a cover if Butch is let go earlier than Currie had expected. If JG is 'entertaining' the Tampa position he's not as serious a candidate which causes the growing grumors to die down a bit, allowing the situation to unfold as intended.

Still think that's bad for recruiting, but I've always been in the 'right hire' mindset.

Does that theory resonate at all?

It's terrible for recruiting but "nothing worse can happen"

How can you be 100% confident in Gruden coming to UT then all the sudden be skeptical because he’s supposingly visiting Tampa?

Either you don’t know for sure or you’re just full of sh*t.

The only way any of us will know for sure is when Currie actually announces it during the press conference.

Right now, I have no clue what to believe anymore so yea, I can see us getting our hopes up again for nothing.

Similar to 2012.

He just lost all credibility. 100% confirmed troll now

Some of you are ****in pansies. Not one of The Insiders make you believe a damn thing. Info changes from day to day on a coaching search. Especially high profile searches. You should read and form your own opinion. Confidence in info does not mean it is done. You have to remember the info they share is passed to them

How do you know that for sure? Maybe I have info that was passed to me... Don’t be gullible. Time for the insiders to step to the mic and it ain’t karaoke night.

As bad as I want Gruden, knowing that the AD did everything they could to get him even if he says no is comforting. At least is shows they are serious about getting a good coach and don't plan on settling for John Smith from Long Beach State technical college.

Partially true. The difference is posters were led to believe that things were done a month ago. That it was Signed. Sealed. Done.

That position isn’t fluid. Done doesn’t mean “changing day to day.” It means DONE.

Many were smart enough to see though it. Recognizing the same posters and comments from 2012, but others chose to believe.

Done has now turned to MOUS and secret documents and backdoor meetings. That then turned to “should be done soon” to now “there’s hurdles.”

I can’t believe I’m taking up for the believers here, but it’s really not their fault. They simply had faith and trust in the people they were led to believe had legitimate info.

Why are people so worried about who coaches out the season. Butch, Stripling, Hoke...I don't think it really matters. We are God awful. Just chill and let it play out.

I'm with ya on that one

But... Currie better pull a Gruden out of his pocket when the smoke clears

No more science projects.

If they can spend 340MM more on Neyland, then they can sure pony up the money for a big dog coach

I'm having no doubt. Gruden is coming...I really believe what beeves said about the other insiders being a few days behind info, especially since they get it second hand.

I was even thinking tonight with the more than USD comment that maybe part of the payment was buying the house in Knoxville for Gruden, an immediate hard asset.

I want to believe but last go round and the history of UT have always caused pause. Until at the podium nothing is 100%.

If this deal is solid he doesn't talk to Tampa. Period. If it got this far, he has had all the time to thoroughly do his due diligence and he is coming. Still hopeful, but not 100% until at the podium.

It's because Butch disrespects VFLs and has tarnished the sheen of our beloved VOLS even in our colors! We should burn anything Smokey gray! We are ******* ORANGE AND WHITE! Butch has never embraced that! At least Dooley wore the pants and Pearl wore the jacket! Butch never wears the Orange! Lookin at a lake of sh!t and pickin on one turd.

Breaking: FEMA has been called in for hurricane relief to help Notre Dame's football team.

Seen this had a big laugh

The pitchforks are out tonight. Too many people are emotionally invested in the wrong things. We’ve all known all along what could happen yet chose to ride this out anyway. So either keep riding and let it play out, or you can GET OUT. That goes for OG’s, Grudenites and lurkers alike. Settle down, go to bed and maybe even log out for a day, shower, change sweatpants suits, eat something you actually have to cook and realize life is happening outside of this thread.

Well, if I 100% knew, i would say it.

Honestly why say anything then? Smoke?

You got coasty ready to roast you and Boro at the stake now, flip flopping his mood like the fish he has always been.

And now the trolls are back.

I get it. Rumored meeting could be a problem but never affected your 100% confidence til this point. But if its speculation why drop it? You onow how crazynthese people are!
