You do realize his team is mostly made up of 2/3 Stars right? He does better with them than Butch does with 4/5 Stars.

His recruiting rank is better than his football team rank on average. You do the math.

Butch is 14-23 coaching a team in the SEC East

Mullen is 19-18 coaching a team in the SEC West.

Please tell me how Mullen is so similar and horrible as Butch.

Jones isn't near the coach that Mullen is. Guy has a track record of developing players and has made Miss St relevant in one of the most dominant divisions in football.

If you don't see the coaching ability there, you're blind.

That’s how you measure a football coach? Recruiting rank to poll ranking? His “weak recruiting ranking” is currently the #16 team in the country with a 2 Star QB who is going to the NFL. Are you seriously this stupid?

You’re right, he developed them well. So well, it took a late turnover and late score to beat UMASS. You know, the same UMASS everyone was clamoring to fire Butch over when we, too, also beat them.

Mullen has been above .500 in the SEC 1 out of 9 seasons. He is under .500 in the SEC. He is under .150 against ranked teams.

Mullen is better than Butch. I have said that. But they sure are similar.

Mullen is an average SEC coach. Butch is below average. He's an upgrade... just not much of one.

Well I'm pretty sure Mullen had a slightly better win percentage than Saban when he was at Michigan State (Sab's first head coaching job in a power five conference).

Yeah and Tennessee recruiting would thrive if they hired a competent coach who has a track record of developing the roster.

Tennessee sells itself. People just think it’s a grit and grind round the clock process because Butch brainwashed people here with that narrative. He can’t coach or develop players but by gawd, he can recruit.

He may be better than Butch. I agree. But he’s not significantly better... and if we apply the standards that we apply to Butch at TN, you’re wrong- Mississippi State is no more relevant than TN. He and Butch have won the same number of division titles, same number of wins over Bama, and usually finish about the same place.

Mississippi State is irrelevant.

Butch has had better talent and an easier schedule every year than Mullen. Yet Mullen is 19-18 in the same time Butch is 14-23 in the SEC.

Swap them out and Butch’s 14-23 league record is even worse and Mullen’s 19-18 record is much better.

Can’t believe you are saying UT and MSU are equal programs.

Lol... Do you know what player development means? A couple examples for you, Prescott and Fitzgerald. He's been great at developing qbs.

Also, how long have you watched college football? Have you never seen a team struggle against an inferior opponent?

How long did that last? Got to #10 on a Hail Mary and went 5-4 to finish season.

Yes please keep saying MSU and UT are equal programs.
