Being as we have gone down memory lane tonight. My son made the 7th grade Tn Future Stars team this past spring. His coach was former vol Chris Wampler and the 8th grade coach was Aaron Hayden. At the banquet the night before the game Aaron spoke and told stories about his time at UT. It was great for the kids young and old lol.I know cool story bro,but I tjought some of you older guys would recognize the names.

Awesome.

The wife is now in a state of light slumber after a powerful concoction of pain medication administered by the good doctor. It appears it will be at least mid to late morning before my son arrives in this world. I pray he will never know the horrors of the Kiffin/Dooley/Jones years. His dad grew up with Majors and Fulmer and lived in Fort Sanders during the most glorious or glory years. His dad also was heckled by Vandy fans — VANDY FANS — as he left the stadium early during the Dores’ dismantling of Dooley and Co. Thank God he was fired the next morning.

A poster asked if I was naming my son Gruden? The answer is no, because naming a mortal man after an immortal coaching god would be blasphemous, the equivalent of cartoon caricatures of religious prophets. I would never take the Grude Lord Gruden’s name in vain!

It’s going to be a Grude next 12 hours for yours truly. And while my boy won’t be named Gruden, i do wonder if he might hold the distinction of being the first live berth messages in a Volnation Gruden thread? Would that make him our first Gruden Baby?

I love you all!

MY SON IS COMING, SOON LIKE GRUDEN!

Congratulations. A bit early but may not be on when he's born. Hope he sees the glory restored and kept intact so he can always say "I was there when the dynasty started, when Gruden restored the Vols to their rightful spot in College Football".
Soon

The 3 and out boys were talkng about Gruden and 2012, basically saying he needs to s*it or get off the pot. That Currie shouldn’t waste their time with Gruden like last time and then have to panic to hurry and hire a coach. Made it sound like Gruden trolled us for a month and backed out. It was the first I’ve heard the story told that way. I thought Hart and Co. bungled it.

I’m not sure where the truth lies there. I do think there were things he probably wanted that weren’t there or he had no interest being a part of (apr was too bad for him to not have an active role in rebuilding, etc).

Part of me thinks the Hart tanked the deal narrative is what boosters said because they couldn’t get gruden to commit when the time came. I think the lack of commitment was due to non-coaching, non-financial reasons like the academic situation. And that’s where Hart become the scapegoat

I concur on Jason Momoa...dude's hot can't deny that and I am a dude.

Wallace has me intrigued. No doubt. Seems to have what Hargis did last time.

Cutting through all the cryptic fun and games with beave, bubba, and the “yeah I heard this a while back, glad it’s coming out now” stuff, there’s been a few pieces that truly seem legit. Not that the other stuff doesn’t.

Here’s what the points are for me:

- boosters/aligned and moving in the same direction. That’s been said by anyone with any knowledge, including guys like LWS, who are notoriously skeptical.
- the espn layoffs and decline in NFL ratings. These are well covered and documented facts. This, IMO, is the only reason Gruden would consider leaving the booth. I do think he’s always planned on returning to coaching at the right time. Espn struggling seems to indicate the right time.

Those two factors alone, all grumormongoring aside, are enough to make me hopeful.

I'm not putting as much stock in the Beaver stuff as I am AV and Matts and a few from TOS. I've been paying close attention and watching some trends with Beaver. His tweets that everyone is freaking out over are coming after the stuff he's tweeting about is getting discussed on message boards. The Ergen/Haslam stuff, DP adidas thing, etc etc etc were all discussed on here and/or TOS first. Most people don't go back and read all of the posts on the boards and think he's dropping bombshells. I've also noticed some of the stuff he's tweeting has already been debunked on here, so who's lying/telling the truth. He may be straight up legit, and I think he is a somebody because AV verified him, but I think he's having some fun with it too.

ESPN doesn't appear to be making a play to keep MNF, or Gruden for that matter.

ESPN is hemorrhaging money and is about to have to make some major changes. Gruden’s contributions to the network are not substantial enough to justify keeping him around. People don’t watch MNF because of him. The people who watch are going to watch no matter who is commentating. It’s nice to have people like Gruden in the booth if you can afford it, but he’s not bringing in any additional money that they couldn’t make without him. Eliminating his position would save them 6.5 million a year with virtually no loss of revenue. Given the position ESPN is in right now, I would honestly be shocked if they kept him on the payroll after this year.

Having people like Gruden is a luxury for ESPN. When you start losing money, luxuries are the first things to go.

I still think he may be "connected" if you know what I mean😆

Basilio was recording a podcast tonight and during it he gets a text. It read "My father was at basketball game tonight and was told by 2 movers and shakers that the deal with Gruden was finalized Wednesday night". Basilio then says "if I told who this is texting me you guys would freak out".

This is fantastic news. This is the 6th separate time in 3 weeks that “the deal has been finalized”... no way he’s off the hook now.

How so? I am a lil drunk and a bit chatty and off topic a but but I'm relaxed and confident that Gruden will be the next head coach of my beloved Vols so I'm just passing time until the announcement is made.

Just mean no new info and it's turned into a episode of name that tune :)

AV might have said some stuff I haven’t seen. At first he said gruden wasn’t on the list. Then he said it might have been a smokescreen. He mentioned that meeting, and I think named gruden as a possible target. He’s never predicted gruden if I recall though.

Beave is whatever. He’s having fun, which is fine. He overplayed his hand though. He’s connected but he’s here to influence. It’s agenda, not information.

100% agree... except the part where people don't watch for Gruden... I think MNF rise in viewers this year is due to some rabid fan base hoping he becomes their coach and watches for his tie color :D

Wow you can tell it's a slow night tonight

You did have this nugget tonight. It's the only thing of substance really:

Basilio was recording a podcast tonight and during it he gets a text. It read "My father was at basketball game tonight and was told by 2 movers and shakers that the deal with Gruden was finalized Wednesday night". Basilio then says "if I told who this is texting me you guys would freak out".

I can confirm this. Basilio read it off at the end of his Periscope podcast. Said it was an elected official.
