Going to win 10 games for the second time in 3 years.

Last time we did.... Fulmer was our coach

2015, 9-4.

0 ranked wins.

If we want to see what that would have looked like here in 2015, just to compare apples to apples, we had 9 wins too. We need to change some losses and wins though, because we actually beat some ranked teams.

So Vols lose to UGA and Northwestern in the bowl, but pick up victories against Arkansas and Florida.

Given our misery against FLorida, most Vol fans would probably take that, lol.

____

Let's see what 9-4 this season would look like for Tennessee with no ranked wins, and see how the contentment level would be:

GT
Ind. State
UMASS
USCe
KY
Mizzou
Vandy
Southern MISS
Win vs unranked bowl opponent.

Losses to FL, UGA, Bama, LSU

This is generally what Dan Mullen is producing.

Meyer lost 5 times in the swamp in 6 years. Mullen happened to be one of them.

That stat is kind of a strawman.

What really matters is how THAT Florida team performed regularly. It drove Urban to temporary retirement. They also happened to lose 3 in Gainesville that season.

Mullen equals an SECCG appearance every 3 years. # Definitive statements

I posed the question the other day:

If Kirby remains at UGA, Frost goes to Florida and Saban remains at Bama, how many division titles would Mullen win over the next 5 years.

You can all come at me, but I'm at 0, with a shot at 1.

1 or 2.

But I would guess that would be at an average rate higher than the University of Tennessee historically won its division.

I find it hard to believe that Mullen would simply replicate his record at MSU every year if he came to Tennessee with all of our resources. If so, there is something seriously wrong with our program that goes beyond coaching.

Mullen with our recruiting budget and athletic resources to sell would pull Top 5-8 classes regularly.

Sorry, this stat is incorrect. They are currently ranked 24-25 so this would not be his best win, if things hold true.

There is still a probability that this will be his best win, since he's not beaten a ranked team to finish better than 8-5.

LSU is currently 6-3 with manageable games on the schedule. Arkansas, TN, A&M and Bowl game remain.

This might be the year he beats a team with less than 5 losses!!

I did that Trip for 15 yrs. Been all over SA. and Zimbabwe. Long gruden trip but man beautiful country. Where are you headed to over there? If you got a straight SA airlines it was like an 18 hour trip by the time you stop on that tiny Island in Portuguese about mid way in your trip. Its kind of freaky when you see all the water and not a very big run way to land that large plane on. Enjoy it man and the Kingfish there is to die for and you must try their cola tonic and lemonade (more close to sprite than lemonade).

Edit: I said gruden instead of grueling. Thought I would go with the flow of this thread but not a believer.

Jo’burg and Port Elizabeth. Be my first time. Business trip so I will mostly be in hotels and conference rooms. But the folks I’m meeting with are taking me out to eat in both places and I expect they will show me around some. Should be fun.

Completely disagree.

Perception of Tennessee is really bad. As someone said, we are viewed as Vandy. A Tennessee offer does not carry the weight it once did. People who think that Tennessee recruits itself I think are missing out on the shift that has happened.

In the SEC, Tennessee is in the company of UK, Vandy, SC, Mizzou... with SC and Mizzou having MUCH more recent success to sell.
