The “it’s done” and “it’s over” type comments to me are ridiculous and extremely misleading simply because CBJ hasn’t even been fired yet and as it’s a public institution not a private, you can’t even legally make an offer.

Now has an offer been made behind the scenes? Probably. Probably more of an interest gauge though than a nuanced offer laying out stipulations and guidelines (which I’m sure will weigh heavily on JG’s actual final decision).

The reason I personally think this is getting a bit ridiculous is that last time around we were in the exact same situation where discussions happened behind the scenes but no formal offer laid out on the table.

Until butch jones is formally fired and a formal offer has been made, I personally have a hard time buying any of this.

no offense gfw but who cares? let people buy it or not.

Depends on if your plane is equipped for WiFi. Gonna be paying for it if is does. I Flew Delta last weekend and it was 4.99 for 30 minutes. Flight was only an hour so I didn’t do it.

I will be on a flight to South Africa. Doubt it will have any way to view and not sure I would pay that much to torment myself.

Also worth noting that some airlines have wifi that restricts streaming services.

I've dished out the money on an international flight before and been disappointed to find I couldn't access sights like netflix or youtube.

I think it may have something to do with bandwith concerns. Most of the planes I've flown on don't have great wifi anyway. I'm not sure how well they'd do even if you found a site to stream on.

Y’all seen this? It’ll make you feel some kind of way.

SOB I don’t know how to fix it. Just copy and paste it.

Woah dude calm down. I was just saying that there is some precedent for successful NFL coaches not doing as well in CFB. It’s a conversation that can be had calmly.

As for the recruiting thing, people keep throwing it out because it’s true. I don’t doubt that Gruden would be good at it, but it’s something CFB coaches have to commit time to year round in order to stay competitive. A lot goes into it and it’s a year round job. They’ve gotta host camps in the spring and evaluate guys and there are a lot of ticky tacky rules concerning times they can and can’t reach out to kids.

The point isn’t that it’s something Gruden couldn’t do. The point is that recruiting is something a lot of NFL guys don’t care for that much.

I think you missed the point on the math test thing as well. Academic ineligibility isn’t super common (though we’ve lost a WR to it over the past year), but it’s always a possibility.

The point I was making is that the college game is different enough that success in one doesn’t necessarily guarantee success in the other. That’s not a straw man argument.

Meh, whatever. Of course they are different but nohing you posted means much relative to Gruden.

1. There is zero precedent for a super bowl winning, celebrity coach going to college to coach

2. Gruden knows how much time he would have to put into recruiting. If he thinks it's too much, more than he wants to do, he would just decline the offer. He isn't gonna fail because of that, he just wouldn't coach college. The notion that he doesn't want to put enough time in to be a college coach is nonsense too. He is famous for his work ethic. NFL coaches put in insane amounts of time at work too.

3. The academic ineligibility thing is a negligible point

There are challenges and differences, but Gruden is a smart man. If he decided to do it he would go into it with his eyes wide open, fully understanding everything.

Chances of him not being successful are very slim.

PS..... I'm calm as can be. Not gonna get too up or down over this. Just waiting to see what happens.

Good points. He wouldn’t have to be on the road every week. He closes the deal. Would love to keep RG and bring in Tee Martin (if he gets canned, may be the sacrificial lamb this season for Helton) and make them co-recruiting coordinators together. They would dominate.

That part "I get asked to recommend some coaches" stuck out to me for some reason.

He doesn't sound like someone who has agreed to coach next year as some suggest.
