Not if Gruden is still having family meetings to discuss if he is taking the position or not!.. The only way it makes sense is if we have Gruden sealed and Currie cuts Butch and announces Gruden within 24-48 hours to help stop the bleeding in recruiting.
If Gruden is not yet decided... wait till end of the year.
Not a sleuth but my opinion :hi:
If there is any truth to the post about announcing after the Missouri game, then this place will crash about 2.3 seconds after the announcement.
I'm sure there is no truth to it, but, maybe...maybe we get lucky.
My hunch (its only a hunch) is that all parties involved have an interest in not moving towards an interim.
- Currie has expressed an interest in not making a coach change mid season.
- Gruden, as the founder of the FFCA, has a public image he'd like to maintain of being good to the coach he is replacing.
- Butch, as much as we may want to see him go, seems like he has genuine care for his players. He'd like to finish the season with them.
- The players like Butch, and have played hard for him. They may want to send him out on a high note/finish what they started.
- The assistants have major issues (as reported), and having an interim may be more distracting than just letting Butch finish out.
