I don’t know who it will be but I have a great deal of faith we are going to end up with a great coach - an absolute upgrade.

Honestly, i am more concerned about the O line. If the new guy can’t come in and immediately make and impact with O line recruiting and player development we will continue to see the same results on the field.

Biggest whiff in the Butch era is at o line. Haven't developed players and made a terrible hire this offseason.

For the record, I still think it's going to be Dan Mullen.

Also, follow Pete Thamel articles. He is very close with Currie. I think the AD narrative will be projected through Thamel.

TIFWIW

Thamel has espoused the view that Currie didn't want to fire CBJ this year and will wait as long as he can before doing it-- until the end of the season or very near to it. He also denounced the Gruden to Tennessee rumors. His views have been unpopular, but he's been right so far.

Cade Mays is the most important part of the class by a mile and for several reasons... mainly our O line needs another Trey.
I know these are just kids, but I have to agree with Jacket on this one, if we get a good upgrade of a coach and Cade still goes to GA, have fun in ATL, you know what you are signing up for. Don't think you will be very welcomed in Knoxville moving forward. You will have no problem getting to the NFL at UT, so don't use that as an excuse.

I will say again, all these people thinking Mullen is the answer are going to be extremely disappointed in about two years...I will happily eat crow on this one, but he won't get us to the next level.

Two years is your timetable?

Not sure this has been posted yet, but if you share the view I do that Thamel has a good relationship with Currie, this feels like a Mullen puff piece (which he deserves). Interesting too with the reports from Trey Wallace that we have Mullen in our backpocket and Hubbs saying Currie will work a deal with one coach while he allows everyone else to focus on another.

Dan Mullen turned MSU from punchline to prominence; will he stay?

Well the programs mouth piece shut yall up momentarily. Mission accomplished. Butch may stay, Mullen, Bobo, perfect.

I don’t think Butch stays or Bobo comes. Currie has put too much on the line with stadium upgradez. He’s going to have to get somebody that will sell more season tickets and get fans to come to the games.

If you believe what I say, you're the only one on this board! Yes, CBJ is telling players (and recruits) that he has UT's full support and they need to block out the noise and finish strong to get to a bowl. I haven't heard any mention of Haslam specifically, but he has claimed to have Currie's support and Currie has reiterated that to the players.

IDT the Haslams are focused on UT football right now. Their attention is on their business, the trial and the Browns, though they are involved with the stadium reno. Outwardly, that is UTAD's focus ATP. Anything to do with the HC is behind-the-scenes.

Thanks for the response. Appreciate it.

Agreed Butch has destroyed the OL in thisnprogram

Two years before you can see that he is not the answer... the first season and recruiting class will be a push, but by the end of the second year when we do not see the results starting to take shape and our recruiting class is behind the usual suspects again, folks will see he is more of the same...just a little better with X's and O's
