The Grude News, the morning edition. For those just joining us and especially you new folks...
So, kind of a recap and kind of a bare bones "A-Z Guide" for those just tuning in. Read each portion carefully and completely before answering. There will be a test at the end.
As soon as I said the normal info sources were quiet yesterday, Boro pops in with an awesome gif. Still my favorite sports announcer of all time. Which led many of us to believe in Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy (Sasquatch is still just a maybe) and Gruden coming to Tennessee.
And follows it up with a silly grin and "can't wait for others to eat crow" (paraphrased and probably taken out of context) post.
Which was topped by a DTO post dropping a bomb of his continued all in commitment to the Gruden cause.
Boro just can't be outdone and stated the plane Gruden was apparently using was for recruiting staff members. Basically an "eff yo couch!" to DTO. To which they broke even I'd say. No Unity Ring imprints though, so it was civil.
Lots of chatter about the plane. I felt like Tattoo was running around the thread today notifying everyone. (yeah, that just dated more than a few people that got that reference)
OV just had a smile. Nothing more, nothing less.
And MattS, who I am actually unfamiliar with, came in with a "Soon..." that drove everyone nuts. Said his number was 70%.
Whole lot of boomage today from multiple folks. Some legit, others...questionable. As I mentioned back some time ago, be wary of people that suddenly pop up and have "inside" sources and "heard this info!" Some folks will turn out to be legit, others are looking for e-cred and striving for those likes. Here's a hint, new folks; just tell SFD she's sharp and you're going to get a like. She's a nice (and sharp) lady like that.
Remind Volly of how young she truly is and you might even get two likes. Remind Ape of his drinking and... well, you might get punched.
The above statements are two-thirds true. SFD is a sharp lady and Volly is a nice mid 30s woman. I have no idea about Ape punching anyone, but you can ask Racist Joe if he ever turns back up after insulting Ape.
LWS posted on TOS that nobody on the UT side is opposed to a Gruden hire. If he declines, it will all be on him. Kind of gave himself an out, but overall, I love the message.
Harry Vols bringing rumors and whispers that Gruden is all but done.
And Trey Wallace bringing the heat on the Grumors not being Grumors but more like Gru...facts on talk radio. I didn't know him until earlier, but apparently he's the real deal.
Apparently, KiddieDoc or Freak don't do Roman Numerals that well since 30 is three X's and some Nanny Filters tend to blank it out. But somehow we skipped to 31. Understandable with work filters and all, but don't cheat us out of a perfectly good number!
And someone fixed the mistake not long after they saw the pitchforks and torches outside their house.
But great news, Doyle's Grudometer was saved! No apart time, no foster home arrangements and no feeling left out. It's proudly waiting for that time to chime in with the Spice Girls to alert him of the impending announcement.
Also, there seems to be a massive shortage of Windex in Doyle's hometown. Mrs. Doyle is most unhappy with the stench of garbage truck and ammonia in her home.
As a reminder, we were informed (educated maybe?) by SFD some time back that we would be invaded by the unwashed masses clamoring for their time in the spotlight after the announcement. They shunned us before, but suddenly our best friends and "knew it all along." No big deal, our tent is large enough to welcome everyone and bring them into the family. Bygones are bygones. We'll all look back and chuckle at this eventually while basking in the glow of beating Alabama's ass like a red headed stepchild. (this is a combination of B Roll and follow up reporting, folks)
But I swear, if any of you new folks show up with "If Gruden doesn't come, what do you think about Mullen..." consider yourself warned it's been discussed, analyzed, beaten within an inch of it's life and the same answer will follow as from all the other times before. You will feel the wrath of the Gruden threads. Just take it elsewhere.
But I will comment that it was a wild ride today. And while we all do love our "soon!" posts, I do believe we are closer than ever to that magical "soon!" moment. I came on board just as the last Grudenmania was in full swing and I don't recall it being quite this lively. One minor blip on the radar about an alleged meeting of the entire AD with Currie and Big Jim Haslam in attendance telling everyone to get behind Jones or GTFO...okay, I added that last part for dramatic effect. Anyway, that caused emotions to slightly drop, but went right back up almost immediately. So much so, even Coasty was impressed and put his pants back on.
From the entire Volnation News Team, I'm Grand Vol and I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tanhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time like tears in rain.
