If the Gruden deal falls through, and neither Kelly, Peterson, not Patterson are options, then what other realistic options do you have? Take away these guys and the obvious "not gonna happens" like Saban, Meyer, and Harbaugh, and what better sitting power 5 coach is out there?

VN Consensus

Tier 1

Bobo
Satterfield
Mike Houston

Tier 2

Fleck
Brohm
Babers
Morris
Taggert

I would still talk to Wittingham, Shaw and Fuente

All about timing

Last year Petrino 🍆 This year = worthless bum that is overrated ( imo he is still a great coach just not one I want)

Last year around this time or earlier, Franklin is garbage haha what a loser to this year Omg he is amazing ( imo very good but not as great as people talk him up at the moment unless he pulls a Dabo and sticks to the system after Jm leaves)

Dan Mullen coaches an Alex Smith into #1 pick(undefeated), Tebow into heisman(13-1 twice), Dak into a star that is one of the hottest NFL QBs immediately ready to start, Fitzgerald Barry recruited into the next 30/20 QB meanwhile we have complained about incompent wasting of QBs that succeed elsewhere......( imo very good coach with higher ceiling than people realize with more resources at his disposal)

Brohm was hot stuff early in season now probably a bum( don't have much opinion behind great offensive and fearless)

Campbell was an unknown now a star( imo a real star but for the Midwest)

Taggart a star now a bum for losing with 3rd string QB( good coach that surrounds himself with great coaches)

McIntyre hype last yr now a bum( overrated last yr and lost the real deal in Leavitt)

Helton a star last yr now a bum( bum)

Some times need to sit back and view the whole picture not the emotional one

Yea, I can't dispute that. But Nick had the stats a couple of weeks ago. Mullen has never beaten a ranked team that finished better than 8-5. Maybe LSU does this year.

I like Mullen, but I am going to say again that his record is bolstered by some non P5 wins. He has only been better than 4-4 in conference one time, and that year he did, he played UK and Vandy in the East.

People said same thing about Franklin at Vandy and now love to jerk his wanka

I’m possible to tell but i would def put us ahead of Florida and I’m still reserved about kirby. Richt left him an ungodly amount of talent.

According to the 247 team talent composite:

Georgia has 11 5-stars on their roster this year; Kirby recruited 4 of those and currently has 2 committed for this year. Georgia also has 43 4-stars on their roster, 24 of which were signed by Kirby in his first 2 classes. He has 6 more 4 stars committed so far for the 2018 class.

Of the 54 blue chips on the Georgia roster this year, 28 or 52% were signed by Kirby, 12 in 2016 and 16 in 2017.

We have 2 5-stars on our roster and 30 4-stars. We just lost our lone 5-star commit and have 5 4-stars still committed for 2018.

Based on 247's roster analysis, Georgia appears to be averaging about 14 blue chip recruits per class year and we're averaging 8.

I'm figuring with Gruden we'll get to 70+ blue chips on our roster averaging around 18 4&5-star recruits per class year. jmo.

With Mullen I think our upside in recruiting is limited so I'll give him say 40 blue chips peak and an average of 10 per class year. jmo.

All in on Gruden but won't be disappointed if it's Mullen.

SEC wins since September 2016:
Butch Jones: 4
Dabo Sweeney: 4
Dan Mullen: 6

Who would you hire?

Idk but here is a list of coaches that i think we could realistically get and would be very successful here:

Mullen, Wittingham, Taggart, Frost, Dino, Brent venables, Bryan harsin, Pat Fitzgerald,

And many nfl assistant or coordinators.

It shouldn’t be a struggle to win at least 8 games at Tennessee.

Since people keep bringing up recruting, let’s play this out.

17 year old qb recruit - Hey coach, how do I know I’m making the right decision to be a Vol?

Mullen - I coached up Alex Smith, Tim Tebow, and Dak Prescott

17 year old qb recruit - I’m in!

Second scenario....

17 year old qb recruit - Hey coach, how do I know I’m making the right decision to be a Vol?

Gruden- I coached Brad Johnson in the Super Bowl

17 year old qb recruit - Who?

Jesus dude 1 is an anaomly... 3 is a trend. Easily a difference.

Tebow is the only one that actually did it. I’ll give one to Dak since he was so close but who is the 3rd? It’s still impressive I am just racking my brain trying to figure it out.

Enjoy mediocrity. None of those coaches should be hired.

Yep, I was one of them. And I believe Franklin just beat his first ranked team at PSU last year. Already lost 2 this year and probably should have lost to Iowa. Fine line.

You forgot Gruden.

Seriously? You use Brad Johnson? He won a SB despite Brad Johnson. I would show him hours on hours of Gruden's QB draft camp.

This isn’t a shot at Mullen but who are you talking about? Tebow did once. Dak never did. (Although he was really only like 17 yards off from doing it once so I’ll count that. Who was the third?

Not in a year, career stats. And I think it's actually something like 4,000 career passing and 1,000 career rushing. He's had Tebow, Dak, and Fitzgerald.

So we just hire gruden HC and Mullen for QB coach. Easy.

It’s like when you’re sitting and church and feel like the pastor is speaking directly to you...
