If/when he comes, Gruden could be a bust. Hell, any coach could be a bust.

But.....I gotta believe that he would hire an excellent staff. Staff that can recruit, handle NCAA stuff, staff that can coach. The guy has done nothing but analyze pro talent ever since he left the NFL all day, everyday. Id say he could spot future NFL talent. Id say he has forgotten more plays than Dan Mullen has ever known.

My thing is that name alone brings recruits for 2-3 years.

Exactly, he’s an offensive genius. Can’t wait to see who he assembles on staff. Going to be unreal. Recruiting will be like nothing we’ve ever seen.

FTR, I'm loving all the Grumors. It's entertaining if nothing else, but I believe it's more than just entertaining.

I appreciate those of you who post info from various sources. It sure makes it a lot easier to keep up with what's going on.

If my combat vet father (Vietnam) were alive he'd likely have no issue with it. My Vietnam Era vet step-dad probably could give an ish one way or the other about stuff like that even though he leans republican he'd consider those that put too much faith in flag-based patriotism to be as naive as any pie-in-the-sky liberal. My cousin who retired at LTC (Desert Storm and recent Iraq War/War on Terra) probably hates it as he's very conservative. My female cousin who made general and now teaches at an SEC school is probably 'to each their own.'

As for people closer to my own age... a current MP who I went to school with is very much a republican but progressive on social issues while another (Navy guy who went from enlisted to officer) is a democrat. Neither have an issue with it.

I think Vets are as diverse as Americans in general even though everyone wants to hijack them for their own cause.

I get what you are saying Nick.

Saban is the best in the minor leagues. No doubt. But he couldnt hack it in the pros.

Now my boy Gruden on the other hand.....he got the t-shirt.

Gruden is a rockstar.

He would attract attention from every corner of the recruiting rankings as well as any potential coaching prospects.

There's no other coach out there with that sort of appeal.

Was also robbed of a super bowl by dumbass tuck rule.

Gruden struggled at TB when Allen wasn’t allowed to spend money due to Glazers finances tied up with ManU purchase. Gruden was publicly frustrated and the Glazers didn’t like his comments about them being cheap. His comments on Tampa radio were consistently that Tampa was under the cap.

After he was fired, TB hasn’t recovered.

If Haslam has given Gruden access to his plane since the GA game, something is seriously going on here. I don't think we're just dreaming here. I think its happening. Only thing that makes sense why butch is still here also. As mad as I have been at Currie, surely, surely, he isn't this incompetent. But with us knowing for a fact that Gruden has an offer, knowing that he is using the Haslam plane, this man Gruden is going to be the next TN coach. I BELIEVE!

If you believe the rumors then level of control is a big issue with Gruden. I would argue he wants nothing standing in his way from being great and winning. He isn’t doing anything that would tarnish his reputation.

Obviously the plane is so he can set up his staff. You know get connection from all over for recruiting purposes
