People aren't going to stop watching their favorite teams because they're pissed at something the network carrying the game does. And if they're that hardcore then they probably should give up TV altogether since every damn network regardless of perceived affiliation is nothing more than an amoral, ruthless, pos, corporation that pushes an image that it thinks will hook in an audience (doesn't matter which one, left, right, whatever) while only caring about $$$.

I no longer watch anything but games on ESPN but I still watch plenty of them across the sports spectrum. My habits there haven't changed.

However, other than occasionally watching PTI, I rarely watch any of their other shows, including Sportscenter. The primary reason is they appear to be going after a different demographic that I'm not a part of. No hard feelings on my part, but they've lost me.

They won’t stop watching their favorite teams. But they’ll stop watching sports center, first take, whatever garbage Jemele is on, and many other of the junk that’s on that channel that they may have watched before.

I’m in this boat. I watch UT. That’s about it on ESPN. can’t remember the last sportscenter I saw. Same for any of the other junk they show

Why haven't those shows been cancelled then? That's usually what happens when people don't watch. SOMEONE is watching OR those shows are so cheap to produce that any ratings will turn a profit.

That's right. And the correct way to do business. I'm just saying it seems contradict that he's actively trying to stick it to UT as the Beav is insinuating.

I don’t think he’s actively trying to stick it to UT as much as he is just doing business the correct way like you say. He wouldn’t be doing his job if he wasn’t trying to sell UT one of his clients that is interested.

Bass, I finally agree with you. I have already stopped watching that stuff.

My read is the Beav is a bull****ter. Tennessee is going to be highly interested in Dan Mullen.

I’m sure some are. I’d about bet that Jemele’s show will be cancelled eventually. But for now ESPN is content to fire people. I honestly think they have an agenda because so far the only people they have fired for political statements are conservatives. They are pushing their political viewpoint and there’s no doubt about it.

I happened to get home early one day and watched Matthew Berry's show on fantasy football. I actually like Berry's input on fantasy football. But, holy crap, his show is ridiculous. Looked like an amateur production.

I think that's the problem a lot of people are having. No one wants to own up to it but certain demographics are far more valuable to advertisers than other demographics and those advertisers will pay you more than if your audience consists of another demo. And certain advertisers are more valuable than others - for example, the latest Playstation Ad is more valuable for a network to have than the latest Viagra Ad and the list goes on.

Networks move on when it comes to social changes. They have to in order to survive and that's fine. Audiences migrate too.

We're all too quick to forget his stint at UL.

It is not easy to win at Texas, despite what everyone thinks; it is easy to win at Florida.

Obviously it's not if they are hiring their 3rd coach in 7 years, and Urban had to cite health reasons.

I didn't think I would see the day that someone said that it isn't easy to win at Texas. OU should be the only barrier to a conference title at Texas.

Of course they are, but not as their #1 choice. And if Sexton is out here peddling Mullen to UT as the #1 choice despite Gruden and trying to do everything he can to get Mullen to UT then that would piss off a guy like Beav who wants Gruden. Sexton is a powerful man, that should make anyone high up that wants Gruden to UT very nervous.

It's the reality tv effect, imo. Once reality television proved you could make money with zero cost every other form of tv has tried their damndest to follow that model. These shows cost virtually nothing - hell look at the Finebaum show.
