This is a good time to just throw this out there. During the past nearly 5 seasons - same period as Butch has been HC - Mullen's offense has more YPG in every year than UT/Butch (Per Rivals). During the time he has gone majority passing yards in four of the seasons until this year. One of the four was really nicely balanced at 506 YPG when their O finished #9 in total YPG. This year is stronger rushing the ball as we have seen played out. He figured out his QB strengths and schemed the O to fit it. It should not be ignored or downplayed - it happened at Starkville in the West Division.

Tells me the guy knows how to adapt a system and play calling to a roster. Upgrade the talent in any direction offensively and he can adapt it. Which frees up how and who you go after in recruiting.

Also tells me that MSU fans who not happy with their O-line play just may be getting antsy and not based their beliefs in reality. From 2013-2017, in order, total yards per game team ranking has been #62, #9, #34, #40, #43. Rushing YPG this season ranks them #11 at 259 YPG. That takes solid O-line development, blocking schemes, and performance to accomplish. Having well developed QB's helps make it happen when the talent at RB is limited.

Nice list thank you. OL is slaw besides Smith and I don't think the CB's are all SEC, but I would 100% roll with that roster. Obviously it will look a lot different, but bring in a few difference makers in this class and we shouldn't see a huge drop off in talent IMO.

From the roster above, pick 10 of those guys and assume they will be injured and/or kicked off the team. Bias your selections towards guys you expect to play "key roles" or to have "break out years."

This is the lesson I've learned in my years of watching football.

Looks like a solid 7/8 wins. Bama, GA, Barn, and FL/WVU losses.

That's where I'm at. Offensive line is garbage. I don't like the CB's or LB's. Mullen or Taggart will have the QB's playing well. I believe the talent is there at WR. TE is sketchy.

Josh Robinson In 2014 was good, this year Williams will likely rush for over 1,000, Vick Ballard was good at state and got drafted 5th round. Other than those idk

MSU is stacked at RB this year, and rotate 3-4 over the course of a game with no drop off.

It's way to early to declare how next season will go. Grier has started to get a lot of NFL attention and may go early. Pro Football Focus has him as the 2nd best draft eligible QB. Florida doesnt really have any SR's of note outside of Brandon Powell and Duke Dawson, but Taven Bryant is projected as a 1st rounder if he declares and CeCe Jefferson and Martez Ivey are projected as pretty high picks if they enter early. Georgia may have to replace 9 starters on defense if Thompson, Patrick and Smith declare and they all probably will.

Plenty of ifs and speculation here, but a starting lineup COULD look like this in 2018:

QB: Guarantano
RB: Kelly, Chandler
WR: Jennings
WR: Callaway, Palmer
WR: Johnson, Byrd
TE: Wolf, Bumphus
LT: Richmond
LG: R. Johnson
C: Niehaus
RG: T. Smith
RT: Hall/Tatum

DE: Kongbo/Phillips
DE: Taylor
DT: Tuttle
DT: KMAC
OLB: Sapp
MLB: Kirkland
OLB: Bituli
CB: Osborne
CB: Shamburger
NB: Gaulden
S: Warrior
S: Kelly/Abernathy

To me, everything except for the OL looks pretty good.

Not football related but on the crawler on Finebaum it said Bruce Pearl not cooperating with internal investigation by Auburn and has been informed that his job is on the line according to Mark Schlabach.

Heard Pankratz on the radio yesterday and he said he's surprised Bruce has not been fired already.

If true, no man has ever lived who has paid a steeper price for his pulled pork & ribs.

McBride was also the victim of a couple of dropped passes and near misses.

Frankly, watching Guarantano has been rough for me. He just doesn't seem to have a good feel for the position. He doesn't feel the rush coming, and when he does take off and run, he lacks vision and patience.

Based on an admittedly small sample size against a crappy team, McBride just looked like a more instinctual QB to me.

I can see that. I still think JG will only improve as the game continues to slow down for him. I see McBride as a gamer, a leader and hopefully he will improve on those areas that he is not yet comfortable.
