...CBJ recruited well here but we never got to see him reach his peak as a recruiter because he **** the bed on the field and never got to 10 wins like he should have.

I was a big Butch supporter for quite some time...admittedly far longer than many on this board...but his reputation as a good or excellent recruiter has become debatable to me. I could easily be wrong, but it seems to me the attrition during his time at UT has been beyond the norm and I think that is putting it nicely.

If you lose kids at the rate he has, class rankings become hollow. Overrated recruiting, poor development and poor game management...it's no surprise we're having these post mortem discussions today.

McBride was also the victim of a couple of dropped passes and near misses.

Frankly, watching Guarantano has been rough for me. He just doesn't seem to have a good feel for the position. He doesn't feel the rush coming, and when he does take off and run, he lacks vision and patience.

Based on an admittedly small sample size against a crappy team, McBride just looked like a more instinctual QB to me.

Yeah, Guarantano reminds me of the Missouri QB. You could tell he had the physical talent, but didn't understand down and distance, etc. Obviously, Lock has figured it all out, and I'm sure that Guarantano will too - eventually.

However, if I had to pick a QB to win on Saturday, I would go with McBride. It just feels like he already knows what to do, for the most part.

When you sign 35, attrition is expected. He signed so many in those first two classes that attrition was necessary. Our attrition rate isn’t that out of whack. The numbers are higher but the rate is pretty normal.

I’m not saying he’s a great recruiter. He did well here but if he had won more it would have been so much better.

I know I've seen people say that that's a common sentiment among MSU fans. No idea how true it is though.

That was info that I had previously passed along. I got it from a very good friend who I would trust for knowing all things MSU, including basketball and baseball. Long time MSU family. Go to every home game and more and have roots in Mississippi.

Apparently except for his OL coach. If the rumors are to be believed, they're good friends and even though the OL had a tendency to underperform, he has continued to keep him around.

I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure MSU had an elite Oline this season

I haven't studied it so I stand corrected. It just felt to me he's had more than his fair share. Maybe it's the unusual in-season losses such as Hurd that have caused me to feel this way.

Doug Mathews talking about how talented next years team is going to be. I know some of you don't think so but this program is ready to win. It isn't a rebuilding job.

i couldn't name you a RB he has had either which is probably would be my top concern with his offense. It's probably why he QBs always have 30/20 passing rushing TDs

Josh Robinson In 2014 was good, this year Williams will likely rush for over 1,000, Vick Ballard was good at state and got drafted 5th round. Other than those idk

I don't think it is. The new coaches will have trouble building a fire under the players with wet burning material though

New coaches almost always enjoy a honeymoon period with the effort coming from players. That will certainly be the case IMO.

Yeah, but we got 2.5 years out of Hurd.

LWS has posted some stats on it all and maybe I'm off base a little but attrition is healthy to a degree. Bottom line is that there is talent over on the Hill.

I don't think it's too far of a stretch. If we could pull Cade and a few others who can come in and make a difference day one, we may be pretty good.

If we hold onto our DL recruits I think we will be very solid there, at LB with Sapp, Bituli, Ignont, Reid, McDowell? if he returns and our safeties should be fine with Nigel returning. Need the CB play to take a step forward with the young guys we have.

The Ol is fine. They need a change of mentality but that group can and should be a good unit

You completely lost me. The O line is NOT fine, it needs a complete overhaul both mentally and physically other than Trey. That is the softest O line we've had since I can remember... no fight, no edge, and can't hold blocks to save their lives... sorry so blunt, but that to me has been one of our biggest issues this season. You have a line that is there to pave and pancake, and you have time to throw and lanes to run...not getting hurried and sacked constantly. Cade and Trey would be a great duo to start the build.

We'll have a lot of young guys on the D-line but our team should be better next year.

Who do we lose from the rotation, just Vickers and Kongbo? I think that should be a strength for us next year if we can hold onto Lawless, Emerson, Chatman etc

McDowell is a senior I think. Kirkland will return, or should. TKj will return.

Yea I think CB will be the biggest area of concern next year. But even there, Shamburger looks like a player and hopefully some of the young guys take a step. Labruzza, Bailey, Osborne, we have some talent there that hasn't seen the field much yet.
