Even if Gruden does come, I hope the fan base doesn't have unrealistic expectations of him. Harbaugh at Michigan hasn't even made the playoffs yet, but had more college experience than Gruden and a pretty close NFL resume.

People expecting Gruden to win a national championship in 3 years are setting themselves up for disappointment no matter what ends up happening

Let us have hope brother. It’s all we have.

What are you talking about “a” national championship.

Yeah, and this roster doesn't even compare to what Hoke left Harbaugh at Michigan.

This job is going to take a minor rebuild.

Probably part of his hesitation as he knows National Title or bust expectations. Different personalities though. Harbaugh wears out his welcome with his quirky personality. Gruden much more personable which will buy him time.

Biggest confusion for me with a Harbaugh is QB play. He was so good at developing QBs everywhere so not sure what is going on there

Gruden is much more personable?

Didn't he publicly call Tampa fans ignorant?

Even if Bobo comes, most of this fanbase will have unrealistic expectations. You will see the same arguments about how much money we make, what great facilities we have, how much we spent on assistants, etc., etc., etc. But then again, every fanbase has these same unrealistic expectations.

Especially on the offensive line. Butch Jones mismanagement of that group this year has been some of the worst coaching malpractice I’ve seen. We went from having 13 or 14 healthy scholarship guys to 6.

Linebacker and cornerback are going to need a lot of help too

Personally, I have a feeling this is going to end with Dino Babers being our head coach.

And a year from now we're all gonna really like it.

Most UT fans just want to win the SECE championship and progress upward from there. That shouldn't be so elusive.

But even that is hard when Saban has Bama rolling. It will take time, if it’s even possible, to get to the point where UT is a pick’em with Bama. Until then (or until the SEC changes the way division champs are decided, which should happen, IMO), we are in a hole in the division race from the get-go. We basically can’t win the East if we lose to a single decent East team because of two losses and losing the tie-breaker.

This. And look like a well coached team on the field that can adjust to different scenarios.

Maybe an offense that is more than Left Middle, Right Middle, Middle, Punt? Though if they don't want to risk McBride throwing... or running... that puts us in a bit of a conundrum.
