3. Hard nosed and hard nosed staff.
4. Hire Lawson or someone tougher for the offseason.

He's good with guys who don't have big heads and are driven to work for the payoff. This character in the recruit is a primary focus of his recruiting. I'm looking for an oversized personality to attract and teach elite recruits. I'm not convinced they would listen as much as would be needed to someone like Mullen. I guess you could say I'm looking for an alpha type personality and I see Mullen as not that - but all the evidence seems to suggest he's a first rate teacher for the types of students he recruits. jmo.

From talking with MSU fans the knock on Mullen is that he doesn’t like recruiting. He focuses on 4 or 5 key guys a class and leaves his staff to get the rest.

Dead on. He was annoying even in his Beacon days. He would go on these moronic joke rants about J Geils Band that absolutely no one found funny.

His smarky articles ruined many a morning dump in the miracle bathroom in the upper floors of GSB on the Hill.

I personally dont want Mullen, not because I don’t like him, but because I’m about tired of the spread. I want an offense that’s hard nosed and pro style! There is a lot of shot gun nowadays in pro style, but not all spread. I want I formation and one back sets, and I just don’t want any spread out all the time anymore.

I sort of feel that way too but I think that style of offense has the best chance of success against Alabama.

He would need a excellent staff to win big. He has some good d coordinators but has struggled keeping them.

That’s pretty much all head coaches. They will take over recruitment for some key guys. (Kirby took over Cade Mays recruitment). If you look at the NFL players he has put in the league that means way more to me than average recruiting ranking.

So every has been saying that a G of 5 coach who win 10 should automatically take 2 Ws off when they coach a P5 team, and yet everyone wants Taggart who's best season was 10 wins. I know I know situation, but don't move away from one narrative to please your own

I just feel good about Mullen consistently having us at 10 wins. + or - 1 game every year or so. If that’s the case then you’re probably in Atlanta more often then not and a win in Atlanta should lead to a playoff appearance.

I would take Mullen in a heartbeat and be happy and buy tickets and new nike gear and fully support or program 100%.

Yeah, he can be annoying and condescending, but in this case, I think he's also right.

Mullen is my number 1 guy but Taggart would kill it here.

Interesting thing about Taggart, too, is that he's younger than Frost.
