We don’t make the playoffs with two losses in 01. In 97 we make it...but so does Nebraska. inch:

I think we make the playoffs in 89, 93, 95, 97, 98, and 01 with national titles in 98 and 01. That 93 team was extremely good though. Pretty much throttled just about every team we played outside of Florida and Penn State in the bowl game.

Here's their AP poll ranking prior to the bowl game for each year:
1989 - 8th
1993 - 6th
1995 - 4th
1997 - 3rd
1998 - 1st
2001 - 8th

So 95, 97, and 98 look like the only years they get in to me. I think 1995 and 1998 they would have won the title.

I think Nebraska would have probably handled Tennessee about like they did Florida in 95. That very well could have been the most dominating team in CFB history. If we take the AP poll out of it, I think we make the playoffs at least 4 times with how the committee works today.

Not even worth the argument anymore. He’s going to be here. Just have to trust we get it right this time.

I don’t think so. At this point let him ride it out.

I still think firing him going into the bye week was a good idea. Give the interim time to get acclimated, etc. I think we win one or both of the USC and UK games. But who knows. Can’t rewrite history.

Just hate that we wait all offseason for football and we get dealt this hand. Oh well. Life goes on

We’ve had lots of coaches in the sec in recent years get off to amazing starts. I’m withholding judgment on Smart until he gets to year 4 and 5.
