Official Jon Gruden Thread XXIX

Getting this hire done is more important than any one recruit or even one recruiting class. If the AD feels the deal would be at risk if information leaks out, they should take every measure to ensure that doesn't happen. There will be plenty of time to win back de-commitments before the early signing period. If Butch is the reason these kids are leaving, Gruden can easily bring them back.

This makes no sense at all in that supposed information is leaking out like crazy. AKA the entire Beaver saga to date.

I'm going to be the 5th person to ask this, but what poster on TOS dropped this info?

SCMVol.

All I know is he has been a member there since 2006 with 11K+ posts. I don't recall him being a touted insider, but nobody has called him out or questioned him like they did JAV. It was almost as if the post was skimmed over as the nega-grudes didn't rip him one.

I want Gruden badly and think we get him.

Willie Taggert is my next name though if something happens.

I've been watching QB Camp, after QB Camp, on YouTube while I've been working and I have a full Grudon thinking about what he could do with Guarantano next year..

I have to go back and skim the last 30 pages or so, but I think I saw enough this morning. People went to bed so happy last night. Then one bad radio show and a decommit and we're all...

Calm down everyone, calm down. Cade Mays did something that was fairly wise for him. This was more about him, than about Tennessee. Verbal commitments mean nothing anyway, so this doesn't mean that we've lost him. It means that Georgia pulled the same card any good recruiting coach would pull while he was down there. It doesn't mean he's going to Georgia.

Everyone (recruits included) tend to like the shiny new toy. When Gruden comes to UT, he will be the shiny new toy that a TON of kids will want to play for. That, in and of itself will stop the bleeding as it relates to recruiting, likely bringing most all the defectors back into the fold while adding a couple of surprises too.......
I hope Cade and Trevor Lawrence.

Thanks. I have no idea who that is, but it would explain a lot.

Mays is a Vol legacy from Knoxville, that's been committed since 2015 and is the guy who's been recruiting like crazy the past few years for the Vols. It's a little bigger than the normal de-commit when a he's bailing.

If I'm a jet flying, limo riding, son of a gun big time booster, the first thing I do today is tell my assistant if they take a call from Butch they are fired.

Every time I drive past a Books-a-Million I wonder "how in the world are they still in business?"

I have wondered the same.

They are always located in what would be high traffic and high rent areas. Between the overhead of the building and employees versus the number of people you see in the store or doesn't add up to being very profitable.

Maybe online sales?

Evidently he makes his real money somewhere else and BAM is a writeoff.

“Hey Cade... this is coach Gruden. I’m calling to ask yo....

“Coach I’m there.”

<8 secs later on Twitter>

“Id like to announce that I’m recommitting to the Unniversity of TN.”
