I'm not arguing with anyone. I just can't understand why some of you are just okay with Currie doing nothing. He may be behind the scenes working on a huge hire like Gruden. I hope so. But his silence and inaction is making matters worse. Not sure why that's an argument, its the obvious reality.

It doesn't matter what you think. Accept your position of not a booster or not an administrator. Yes, it is frustrating having to look at that red-faced, inept bully, but spewing a bunch of whining doesn't change anything.

You literally know nothing of what’s going on behind the scenes and latch onto the idea that Currie is tanking the program and want him fired. How do you know firing Butch right now doesn’t escalate another problem that makes the whole situation even worse? You don’t, and yet you still drag Curries name through the mud.

Nobody is whining. But if it makes you feel better to say that, then go right ahead.

You're missing the point. It doesn't matter what Currie is doing behind the scenes. He is making everything worse by his silence and inaction. Nobody knows whats going on all we see is our top recruits decommitting and Butch trotting out there and losing games we should win. Fan unrest is bound to continue because of his silence and inaction. He should do something.

Empty Neyland, though it didn't work, would never have been a thing had Currie just said or done something. And let's not forget the situation with Antone. But Currie still didn't do anything. And in this case, perception is reality. He owes it to the fanbase to give us something but he hasn't.

Nobody’s hiring Butch to be a head coach in D1 football. What has Butch done as a head coach? Only thing he’s proven is that he can recruit and that only lasts until you can prove you can coach up talent and get them to the league. He’s a fraud. Anyone can see that. No wonder he’s trying to talk them into another year. He knows his career is over after this.

It is what it is, huh? That good enough for you? Okay. I'd rather our AD try and keep Mays and the rest of our recruits and try and help us win a bowl game. But to each his own.

I think you’ve had a breakdown. Can you give one example how Currie accomplishes the above bolded? If you say “Fire Butch” then you’re saying that an interim coach rules out decommits and losses. Fiction! Randy Shannon really fixed that Florida ship didn’t he? And Bowl WINS haven’t been a problem these past 3 seasons...so weird for you to bring that up. The next hire will be the final grade. Keep looking for the answers before the exam. :eek:k:

First bolded point: This is straight opinion. What happened if he fires Butch and then the staff implodes because they can’t work together and the program becomes even more of a laughing stock then it already was? That’s just one situation that could be possible. There’s plenty more.

Second bolded point: Currie doesn’t owe you a thing. You know what he owes? He owes the university to do his job in the best way possible regardless of what you think.

Lol. One example of Florida and that just undoes any other example of interims having success. How'd Larry Scott do as Miami's interim? Or does that not count because he was actually successful as the interim there? Do you honestly believe that Butch is the best option to take us to a bowl game this season? Well, it doesn't matter, because you'll probably just answer with some snarky comment that is contrary to my position.

But regardless, Currie can be doing something. At the very least, he could let the fans know that Butch is out. This fan unrest would not be happening. Lol at breakdown talk. The only people breaking down are people like you and others that freak out when I dare mention that Currie isn't doing a good job right now. He isn't.

Lot of sheep in here that have more blind faith than evolutionists.

To say he doesn't owe the fans anything is a joke. The fans are the ones spending their hard earned money on this program. He absolutely owes the fans and to say he doesn't is a slap in the face.

From the article I linked earlier:

Mal Moore had offered the job to Rich Rod out of desperation and he had accepted - then he backed out.

But privately Moore was relieved. He didn’t want to hire the upstart lounge singer to perform at his theater of football. He wanted Elvis.

Loping into winter now, Mal began to perceive pressure — whether founded or unfounded — from the Alabama administration and the board of trustees to secure a coach. “I don’t think he necessarily got a phone call,” Robertson told SDS, “but as conscientious as he was, he channeled that into, ‘If I don’t hire a coach, the president and trustees are going to have my neck.'”

Recruiting for the upcoming season was another consideration, and the longer the process took, the greater chances that prize recruits would defect.

Moore didn’t have much else to rely on than gut feeling (those trusty instincts had eluded him in the past) and suffice it to say that his inclination to go after Saban full-bore stemmed largely from the conversations Chuck had had with the Dolphins’ coach.

“My feeling on it from my conversations with (Saban) was that might be interested in the job,” Chuck told SDS. “With Mal being an old football background A.D, it could be what he was looking for. My feeling was that Mal needed to stay after him.”

That he did. On Friday, Day 11, Moore boldly called all hands on deck, scheduling a secret meeting of his secret team at his very public house. Now there was no turning back.

That night, a bitterly cold evening, team members were instructed to park blocks away so as to not call attention to the covert congress.

If you want to know what Currie is doing I suggest you hire a private investigator to tail him, stake out any place he may have a meeting, tap all his phones and if you get any good info please come back here and share it with the rest of us. We'll believe you.

I'll get right on that. Or... here's a thought, I could have blind faith in an athletic department at TN that has been oh so good over the past decade in their decision making. Perhaps I'll do that.

Bass is crazy. It's pointless to argue with him. He is in a manic state and has been for weeks.

He doesn't listen to reason and people have been trying to tell him to calm down and he simply cannot do it.

This was posted in the Gruden thread. Figured we needed it here. I think RTSC is an insider, too.

Lol. Okay Ziti, whatever you say. You know so much about me let me tell you. It's unreasonable to want Currie to say or do something to let us know as a fanbase what's going on. Crazy!

I plan on laughing and giving up when Currie either brings Butch back or hires another bargain bin coach.

Or, if by some miracle we actually hire a home run hire, I will come on here and post a gif of Currie from Dumb and Dumber where I say he has totally redeemed himself, even though him allowing Butch to stay this long and not make a statement is a colossal mistake.

But, I thought this was the football talk forum. We had a 5 star in state recruit decommit today. I know it sounds crazy, but it is my opinion that action from the AD might have prevented this from happening! But I guess I can't say that or I'm whining, or I've blown a gasket, or I'm crazy, or unreasonable, or whatever else has been said this morning. Lot of people just want to believe that nothing else could be done. But I don't believe that. I think Currie is doing a terrible job right now by saying and doing nothing. That's jmo, but it must be crazy to think that!
