Official Jon Gruden Thread XXIX

That would a disaster of monumental proportions

We will see over the next couple of weeks. No way Gruden and Tennessee let this go on. It would be a PR nightmare. It would also mean that nothing has changed.

I prefer to believe that the reason the Grumors haven't been addressed by either party is there is a real possibility this is happening. No reason to throw water on a fire you stoked yourself.

How is Gruden trolling the fan base ? No one has asked him and he is not gonna comment on it while Butch is still coach. Ainge is being dumb here.

He is really not going to look good on this one because all is now trending the other way. Skeptics are turning in public way..Bad move by him.."Oh I was told to say to tamp down expectations and noise while it was being negotiated" is not going to fly this time

If EA is getting his info from people who are close to Gruden, then I’m even more convinced he doesn’t know what he’s talking about. You actually think Gruden is going to just openly tell his “friends”, “so yeah, I’m gonna be coaching at TN next year, but don’t say anything. Butch is still there.”? And more than likely, those people, if they really knew, would probably be the ones talking it down the most to keep it all under wraps.

Little off topic but if Gruden is hired before the Signing Day Period, do you think he could flip Trevor Lawrence or Justin Fields considering he has his own QB camp?

Recruiting wouldn’t take much of a hit as some of ya’ll think.

Believe someone that was connected to recruiting said a trevor Lawrence flip was very possible, can’t remember who posted that though.

If Gruden was 100% not coming, then he would say so. To say nothing and then not come would make tn people hate him. After all this, if it comes out that he was never in play, and he let us believe... I'd hate him.

The worst thing he could do is respond to the rumor. You remember Saban’s denial, I presume? It would do nothing but make it worse for Gruden to acknowledge anything to the positive or negative while Tennessee still has a coach and he doesn’t have a deal signed.

GTFO yourself. Everyone has an opinion. I had breakfast with a person that just rolled their eyes and laughed about this thread. Yea they give a lot to UT.

Everyone would love to have Jon at UT, he is just not going to coach at the collegiate level. He has been looking at NFL jobs though.

So you had breakfast with a nobody 4th tier donor? Good story broseph. Up your networking game.

And gtfo!!!!!!!!

When Ainge's name is mentioned literally the first image that comes to mind is him flipping the ball backwards from his own 10 us line vs LSU in 2005 for a pick 6.

Don’t hang on any little nugget of info on a day to dat basis. Just know these 3 things and then sit back and enjoy the ride.

1: Butch Jones is 100% gone.
2: Jon has privately told people that he would have a hard time turning down coaching at UT. Has expressed interested as well.
3: It’s not the same old clowns at the circus vs 2012. This group will get it done and make it happen.

Thank you Sir! Appreciate the good vibes you bring to the board.

I don't believe anything Ainge say's anymore. He has sold out to state run media, he is a mouth piece for the University and gets kick backs from it. He has no shame and also insults fans, former players and current players.

You said you know Ainge right? If so why is he saying no Gruden to Tennessee and you say it's happening 100%

I don’t agree with EA, but let’s leave his personal demons out of it. Overcoming addiction is a huge accomplishment. Attack his decisions on the field or the way he talks about fans or his bowing down to all things BJones. But attacking his addiction is juvenile and uncalled for.

I haven't listened to him since his TSR days.

EA and Basilio were all in on Gruden last time. I think that's why they're not buying in this time.

They weren't in last time either. They were selling out telling people what they wanted to hear.
