Official Jon Gruden Thread XXIX

Well today is another Grud-day.
Another day of wishing and hoping.
Time has gone by and no evidence whatsoever .
Texts, tweets, and long drawn out paragraphs of according to so and so he was seen taking a dump in the Ad's private bathroom.
Watch what color tie he's wearing on MNF.
Face the facts when respectable media people say it is not going to happen, that doesn't mean listen to the guy that posts , " he signed the contract and just waiting now".
It MEANS MOVE ON AND TALK ABOUT REALISTIC CANDIDATES....
But I am sure if it doesn't happen the Grudenites will still not admit that Jon Gruden DOES NOT WANT TO COME HERE. They will then blame everybody else why it didn't happen.
GRUDNITE!!!! LOL

Logical, guarded conclusion. However, the debate that you fail to acknowledge - not everyone will agree with your definition of "respectable media".

I've seen John Harbaugh's name mentioned a few times.

Can someone provide insight on why he would be interested and what, if any, ties he has here? I'll hang up and listen

He would be interested because Baltimore is probably about to fire him. Wikipedia doesn't show any obvious ties.

I'd be okay with it, myself.

Did anyone see that Butch finally tweeted? He re-tweeted @Vol_Football...

Edit: Wrong Tweet, sorry.

Here's the right one.

You were right earlier ,listening to Cards without Jack Buck isn't the same. Kind of like Vols without the immortal John Ward! After Braves game sometimes I still try to catch Mike Shannon, KMOX still gets here. Another time I'll tell you the run in I had with Al Hrabosky. GRUDEN

I'd love to hear it. I have over the years come to really appreciate both Shannon and Hrabosky, but Buck was a Hall of Fame legend, just a different level and I think they would both agree. It's very sad to think that the Moon Man's days are quickly coming to a close, as he's now 78. and will be missed when that time comes.

Honest question:
In any business deal the negotiated terms are set so that each side is most benefitted. That being said, assuming Gruden was our guy, what advantage does Gruden have in delaying his announcement? Why would he want to wait?
Butch is essentially just an interim, and I really think he has to know this. So why wait?
what does Gruden gain from delaying an announcement?

Ps- don't get me wrong, Im full Grude!

Would never come to Tennessee:
Gruden (embarrassed I even had to type it)
Peterson
Patterson
Franklin
Chip Kelly
Stoops

Reasonable choice that would succeed here if he’s willing: Mullen, Venables

Intriguing and worth a call even if it’s a long shot: Fuente

Intriguing coach who may want out of his current spot and would be willing to start fresh at a school like Tennessee: Jimbo

At one time I thought this guy might be successful here but he’s changed my mind with how he is managing his current team: Petrino

JMO

Why do so many people think DP was in the AD? I think at best he had an office in the building, but not working for UT. I don't know if he has ever revealed his connection to UT so I won't say much, but regarding his Gruden comments, I ain't shook in the least.

Sold shoes and apparel to UT thru adias(sp?).
UT's new deal is with Nike. Ask him bout that.

I'd love to see the nega-Grudes backpedal on the "It's been YEARS since he coached in college" thing they toss out at Gruden if Harbaugh was hired.

so it's pretty obvious by now Jones is here through the last game (pending a disaster beyond the disaster already in place I assume)

so the question I have is:
If we make a (toilet) bowl, when will the announcement be made?

What's he going to announce, he's interested in, or got, the job that hasn't opened up yet? He's quitting ESPN?

He doesn't have our battered vol syndrome. Chill

He said he works with NCAA teams around the country on a regular basis.

I have a friend who does the same and he owns a company that makes awards/trophies for teams. He supplies schools from the SEC to the PAC 10.

DP is likely supplying some form of service for NCAA member schools if he works with any of them on a regular basis.

Fills vending machines with water?

Could have something to do with his ESPN contract...
