Monday Press Conference

This is why.. and I kinda throw up a little when I say it... we need to look at Kiffen IF we can't get Gruden. Kiffen wants to come back to Knoxville and has a grudge to be settled with Saben. Noone else we could hire will have the same fire to go after Bama and Georgia like Kiffen would. I know were all still butthurt over him quitting on us , but shy of Gruden... who else can you name that has the fire to beat our SEC rivals?:eek:lol:

Who is Kiffen? LOL. Personally, I'd be fine with Lane Kiffin. But remember this - he committed multiple NCAA violations while at UT the first time. Question is, has he learned enough to avoid the same mistakes and others? Furthermore, anyone taking a job with a grudge against a competitor, is as ripe to cheat as there comes. Won't take too much for them to become totally rotten. Be careful what you ask for.

I strongly suspect nothing is happening because behind the scenes few if any are interested in this job. Top ranked team in the country is in your division and loaded for bear in the future, second ranked team is a rival game you play every year. So right off the bat hard road to win your division, let alone your conference. 9 wins and a good bowl will eventually get you fired. It’s a setup for failure. The next coach will be either padding the resume or his checking account.

Loser talk. Tennessee needs to start being Tennessee again. Good coaches aren't scared of competition.

LOSER TALK for sure

I wish someone would raise their hand and ask “why are you still here?”

I think he would be fine on both of those issues. How many years has he been gone something like 8 yrs . A person can grow up and learn alot in 8 yrs. If Kiffen can ever become an adult he is a championship coach. I think he understands that leaving UT was a big mistake. I like the fact that he doesn't care much for his old boss.

Is that why everyone’s beating down the door for the job?

Why do you think it’s radio silence?

I don’t think being pragmatic is loser talk.

I want us to win every game, but the guy that takes this job next is crazy enough to accept a suicide mission or dumb enough to not know what he’s getting into.

Because there's not a job opening to openly discuss yet

Everyone needs to remember that we brought Dickey back and there were alot of bad feelings then and when he left us for Fla. What happen when he returned was some of the most successful years in UT athletics. I think Kiffin has realized what he gave up when he left ut. What he gave up was probably his best chance at being a championship coach at a major university with a rabid fan base. WE are one of only ten programs where you have it all . History, facilities, a Huge recruiting budget, national exposure, and a RABID FAN BASE!

Good coaches that may be considering TN aren't scared of the opposing coaches across the field as much as they may fear the opposition within the AD and amongst boosters

“I’m excited for our kids to get back on the winning track,” Jones said. “Obviously, we have a great challenge going on the road next week (at Missouri) but it’s been a long time coming. They’ve been working exceptionally hard and it’s great to get a victory.”

Back on the winning track, folks! :dance2:
They should be working exceptionally hard every week AND I believe THEY DO! You can’t fix coaching!
