Hes making nearly the same at ESPN if not CBS, FOX, or any of the others would meet his demands Im sure. Hell Id take a pay cut for a much easier gig than come coach at UT
Honestly he loves coaching...he will coach again ... Will it be Tennessee? Most likely not but its fun to dream...We have had a horrible team for so long what else do we have. Stop bringing negative non gruden talk to us WE NEED TO DREAM BIG
Thats kind of what I think is happening. I think the only reason were hearing about all of this is because Haslam is involved. Just not involved in bringing him to UT rather him go the Browns. He doesnt want a college gig hell why would you? When you can coach any NFL team you want.
For all the doubters. We heard from multiple reliable sources that Gruden was in Knoxville before heading to Green Bay. Why come to Knoxville for a few hours for no reason then fly to Green Bay? Just food for thought.
Theres no reason someone cant ask for reasoning why it would be a GREAT 8.5 mil a year GREAT hire. When I hear a legit answer Ill be pleased.
I think it's because the college game is hot right now. The NFL is #1 hemorrhaging money. Losing sponsors. Fan interest is at an all time low.
#2 The whole environment around the NFL is toxic. The protest mess, I don't think he wants to get involved in. The owners are fractured on every issue it seems as well. And Goodell is probably on his way out soon.
#3 The best coaches not named Belichik or Reid are in college right now, with more rumored to be heading back to college soon. Chip Kelley, John Harbaugh possibly. Pete Carroll has talked openly about how he would love to coach college again. You currently have Saban, Myer, the other Harbaugh, Smart, Peterson, Patterson... You can go on and on.
Point being, College is hot right now. Ratings blowing away NFL. Yeah Grude has been out of the game for a while. Maybe he needs to get a refresher or a gauge to see where he is in today's game before going back to NFL. Sure I can see him wanting to stick around college for 3-5 years and perfecting his system before heading back to the NFL. All the while, grooming his successor at UT (whomever that may be). Who knows, maybe he has a job with the Browns waiting for him down the road
And honestly, I'd be okay with having him for just 4 or 5 years.
Well I tried to not bring it here. Made a thread about it. Im not negative on the hire itself really. I just dont think its gonna happen. I made a thread about it they merged it so F em
I don't think you understand this thread...this isn't a discussion on whether we think Gruden would take the job or not or whether he would be a good college coach, we already know those answers.
CarbonVol same here. Just get tired of people feeding people a bunch of boulderdash. Some people actually believe some of this nonsense. Spewing out some long drawn out regurgitation of lies . GRUDEN is not coming to Tennessee wake up people and put down the crack pipes.
