This whole fiasco, and everything associated with it, has been coming to a head for years. Ergen and his team didn't wake up two weeks ago and decide to pursue this. Ergen simply did his homework and garnered enough support with other UT powers to light this up with the heat of a 1000 suns. It is brilliantly orchestrated, and when one realizes how important it is that the AA is on hook and won't shake free, all the Brownian motion becomes a well-defined staight line. The UTAD would be nonexistent without the institution of UT itself. Academics/research begat athletics, and Ergen has masterfully sucker-punched Currie and Haslam in the cajones.

This has been explained and rehashed perpetually, but I want to stress how huge this really is, whether Gruden is the end result or not. We finally have leverage that has been sorely missed for decades. The only thing left to do, and I believe it will occur, is to move the AD from beneath the Chancellor to the President, where it belongs.

Sorry for the long post, just wanted to reiterate some of the things I've said (and others), and hammer home the importance of what's transpired. Go Vols!
